I'm inclined to agree with heliOCD. The audience was pretty close. I also worried about the inverted hover that was less than the length of a parking space away from him.

Sounded like the class enjoyed it. How did Ryan do in the talent contest?

Who won the contest?? I think he was probably pretty popular after that show!!
Its crazy how these young kids learn so fast! I didn't start flying until I was 55 and will never be that good!! In some cases you can't teach old dogs new tricks!!

Excellent question. I can't imagine the school administration approved it, either. The liability possibilities are through the roof.

Some of you guys are way too eager to pick apart other people's safety conditions. It happens quite often lately! The weather it getting nicer now, shake off that orneriness, and go out and fly safely!
I didn't see where Ryan's dad asked for opinions.

If we don't police ourselves, someone else will! And we don't really won't that someone else doing it. Do you?
It happens quite often lately!
The scrutiny on our hobby is increasing every day.
I didn't see where Ryan's dad asked for opinions.
Then he shouldn't have posted the video.

Great Job Ryan! I myself did the same thing when I was in school! I really enjoyed the video! Can't wait to see you fly at IRCHA!

He looked safe, and in full control the entire flight.

You would not post such nonsence if your child was injured or worse.
Use your head. Safety is not a bad thing. I will point out on the net or in person unsafe situations as I wish, especially when children may be at risk.
He looked safe, and in full control the entire flight.
He cant control a mechanical failure. All im saying is the kids should have been at a safer area to watch your sons flying skills, which are fantastic by the way. Why take chances with other peoples children, and with such a powerful heli as the one he has.
Its all earth!

I don't think anybody is doubting his skills...
he does fly with confidence and honestly probably flies better than most in the hobby.

but the fact is our helis are not perfect and mechanical/electronic failures do happen even to the best of us despite our best efforts and skill that cause a heli to loose control and fly in any direction...add the fact that it looks like a 600 class bird so it further magifies its ability to cause bodily harm.

Honestly its a great demo from such a young pilot...

me personnaly I just wouldnt have had a demo of that nature without some sort of barrier between the kids and the heli... or at the very least use a smaller bird like a 450 or smaller just in case SHTF....
showing a preference will only get you into trouble, 90% of everything is crap...
