Free gift with my Align helicopter.
Well I have just found (ANOTHER) free, complimentary headache with my 450 pro v2 kit, as Align's act of gratitude for my purchase, and continuing support... This certainly seems to be the kit that just keeps on giving, in this regard.

All was going well as I begun to piece my 450 together last night following my last crash. But, as I secured the main grips in place... Surprise surprise, the grips have a ridiculous amount of lateral play on the spindle. It turns out that the spacer collars that come with the 450 pro spindle shafts do not do their job of filling the space.

I had previously been successfully using flanged collars that I had left over from the old clones that I started with. Of course, as my last crash was due to the mains parting in midair, those flanged collars are gone.

Now, I come to the realisation that All the spare spindles I have come with a collar that cannot be used... and that I cannot fly my heli until I order a collar that is not stocked anywhere, and does not seem to even exist in Align's parts list.

The possibility has actually crossed my mind that Align might just be playing one big joke on me... I wonder if I should be looking for the hidden cameras in my garage.

Am I going crazy? I'm fairly sure that the 450 pro spindle is the spindle used on the 450 pro dfc. Am I missing something?

Do you have the thin brass washer between the thrust bearings and radial bearings in the grips?Heli-itis sufferer.

Are you rebuilding the Pro V2 flybar head, or are you repairing a 450 DFC head?

Nice, large, easily readable 450 DFC head parts explosion diagram, with links to the correct parts:

Make sure you're not leaving anything out as you rebuild.

No. Just checked and they weren't in there. I found some and installed them and now the grips fit perfectly.

Now, any suggestions on curing embarrassment?

Sorry, Align.

No more rebuilding late at night!

Have a beer or two or three and go to bed

At least you manned up to it instead cowering in a corner or whining about Align motors from '03.I salute you.
