Crappy tail
I've been chasing "crappy" tail problem for a month or better and made no progress. I replaced all the out-of-round tail parts and bearings due to being beat up relentlessly trying to sort this out. After shelling out $600 plus who knows how much more in parts chasing this ghost, I can honestly say I give up. The problem has been brought to MA's attention many times and I can read between the lines. And to think I sold a perfectly flyable 550 to buy this P.O.S. To all that have said it's a top quality machine, thanks.

I read your post a HF. I have been trolling that board as well getting setup for my F6 maiden this weekend, just waiting on the motor.

I know you said that you isolated it to the tail and the slider. Does it vibe if you remove everything off the tail shaft and just run the belt and tail shaft ?

Saw your thread on HF. I've had no mechanical issues with my F6 except for the sloppy bearings on the main shaft. A new set of bearings from RCbearings fixed that.

Hard to believe you've bought $600.00 of replacement tail components and everything was either out of round or has manufacturing defects. You need to get in touch with MA.

You said you were unable to get through to MA by phone. Try PMing them here on the forum - they go by MinAirUSA. They have been very responsive to my inquiries and complaints about lack of support (promotion)in the past.

Sorry for the rant earlier folks. I'm new to this forum, but have ben a member of HF for a little while. I was actually able to speak with Jeff @ MA on a few occasions and he suggested checking out this forum. I'm just frustrated that something like a piece of molded plastic is to blame. I've gone thru too many pieces and found the same issue/issues with all of them. Concentricity in particular but also holes that are not drilled square for their intended purpose. I machined my own brass slide bushing due to the one in the kit not being drilled correctly and buying 4 more all with the same problem. The pitch yokes have one hole for the retaining pin used for the pitch arm not drilled square to the tail shaft. The vibes are present when I spool it up w/out tail blades, when I remove the whole slider assy. the vibes disappear.
I'm currently using a Microbeast w/ the newest firmware installed V3.02, my tail blades are 95mm revolutions, black plastic that came w/the kit and just recently a pair of edge tail blades all were balanced. Rudder servo is a Protek 230s. I really don't want to give up on this but if I'm chasing a fart in the wind... Thanks for understanding and I do appreciate the help.

This spring I had a battle with my Furion 6 FBL tail. Bad vibration...I was running V-Bar silver line. Mine was not every flight but most. I replaced every tail part but this just made the problem worse. Ron Lund at Heliprozs South figured it out! Tail gain was too high. My setting was 90 backed off to 85 and it was end of problem. I was using BLS 251 tail servo. I was shocked! We all know what to high of tail gain looks like you get the classic wag...not with the silver line V-Bar & this servo... All I got was bad vibration. I was very glad Ron Lund took the time to speak with me.

Knucklehead, I have the same tail servo using the vbar (blue, full size). My tail gain is remarkably low. I would PM MA again and explain the issue and ask them to exchange your problem parts with ones they CHECK BEFORE SENDING you, and see if that resolves the issue. Sorry you are having so many issues. I have had none, except the main shaft bearings (really not a big deal), so it surprises me. Another road to go down is to call HeliProz and ask for Rick - explain the issues and see if he can help. He/they have always been helpful too.Compass 7HV, Trex 550E

After lowering my tail gain, as a test I tried to make tail vibration return. I loosend locknuts securing tail grip bearings and loosened tail blades. For this test everything was stupid loose. I could not make the problem return. In my case Ron Lund was totally correct. Today I think my v-bar tail gain is at 82. Have 50 flights on heli now. Tail is trouble free.

Oh, my plastic tail slider yoke is not to square either but seems to work ok.

Furion Build Pitfall, if you are still having tail problems I thought of an item to check. If you are running a Scorpion motor like me the motor shaft is really about 1/2" longer than it needs to be for a Furion. Motor shaft sticks out the bottom of the lower motor support bearing. Tail drive belt MUST pass on EACH side of motor shaft. On my build my new stiff belt just loved popping over to one side. I did not spool mine up this way but did make a mental note error was possable. Worth checking!

Crappy Tail
Update- Thanks for all the help so far. Think I might have found the culprit, won't know until later today or this weekend. But it looks like the tail support at the very back end where the bell crank attaches to is not the same width as the tail plates when they are screwed down to the boom mount. It is not wide enough and when I would tighten everything up it put a noticeable bind on the tail shaft support bearings. It's not much, about .012"-.015", but when things are spun up to 9000-9500rpm crazy things start to happen. Duosport, I'm running the KDE 600XF 530kv and the motor shaft does stick out thru the support bearing but knot as much. Its 1/4" give or take.
