Andy,

I googled the fastener you are talking about and I see what you mean. That is a very neat idea. They don't use the nylon but rather incorperate a split washer style right on the nut. Very cool. Looks like they will stand all the heat you can throw at them. I will be ordering some for my Raptor, for future maintenance or crash rebuilds.

Use very thin smear of five minute epoxy for gasket. Tighten bolts. Let set. Fly it. Tighten bolts while muffler is hot. Done.

Any excess epoxy will melt away and not kill your glo plug.

Ok here is what I did last night..
Thanks for all the awesome comments and ideas

I wanted to take the most out of everything

So muffler now has a loc washer--- nut--- nylon locnut behind it... So tight that my hex was about to snap lol

The gasket was made by primatex anaerobic gasket maker ... Blue little tube with the red stuff. Made a thin bead on both sides .. Which freaking didn't coincide lol.. But still, both side had some..

Btw.. Did sand the muffler flange to make it smooth just in case

The muffler nipple was JB welded in place. Not flying today just so the jb can set... Put it in at 11pm last night. So I can fly tomorrow

People call me crash master... for a reason.. :P :D

Yes really. And it's not my idea. It came in the instructions for one of my old mufflers. Zimmerman or something. Never had any problems once I started doing that years ago. The nipples do use JB weld. The sealer will work too but any sliver of excess can find its way to the glo plug and cause the engine to quit. Used it before I switched to the epoxy method.

Or you could use a soft aluminum gasket, double nut the muffler screws, and use Pyro Putty to mount the nipple.

The trick to keeping mufflers tight is to tighten it on the bench good and snug.
Then fly it some getting it good and warm, about mid flight land and snug it back up. That is the key, tighten it while its hot.

Once you do that it should never come loose. That has worked for me for many years flying glow. You have to remember to tighten it again while its hot.

Epoxy works very well also. I haven't had a need for it in a while but I used to use it occasionally and it works really well.

Noticed on my os55 motor, the bolt shoulders are loose/ not fat enough to keep pipe from wiggling.
Is there a place that has the correct bolts I need?
