Automakers warn new ethanol mandate could damage vehicles.
Given a choice, I wouldn't run this crap, or ANY ethanol blend in ANYTHING I own!!! The only reason this stuff exists is pressure from the already heavily subsidized Ag lobby. Let the CONSUMER sort it out. Keep government out of it!

There, their and they're. It's really that simple.

hmm
I had been told from someone at work that the subsidizing had gone down from 5 years ago. I would like to see legit numbers on that.

If it is bad in parts of the car I would like to see studies or some factual base for this. Seems there is a lot of large bias on its bad or its good..

Yeah I want some of that stash myself! The problem is with the older cars. They simply were not designed to deal with the moisture that the ethanol carries with it through the system or the acids it leaves behind once burned and partially evaporated. This results in rusted fuel lines, and expedited rusted out exhaust systems.SEMA is actively lobbying against e15 we are stuck at the moment with e10.That is why most new cars if not all have stainless exhausts and a new rubber compound in the rubber fuel lines. Not only do they want to control our firearms but they want all old cars gone too!I love the smell of nitro in the morning..

My small engines run like $hit on e10, started using real gas and they all run normal now.

problem is finding real gas. I looked it up, went to that location and lo and behold...the dreaded "contains ethanol" sticker. My new mower even has a "no ethanol" sticker on it.
I'm breaking in a 35cc gas planker and about to break in a new G20 Radikal and I may have to run Colemans. The only ethanol free fuel is clear across town at a marina.
What a racket.

I do not have any proof of this but I have seen first hand what the 87 Octane fuel has done to diaphragm fuel pumps in small engines after just 30 days in a couple push mowers and 3 18hp to 24hp riding mowers.

with only 21 to 30 days of use after having the carb or fuel pumps rebuilt. they had pin holes after running only 87 octane through them and sugar crystals left in them coating and blocking off the jet orifices. From what I have heard (but no proof) this is becuase the 87 octane fuels contain up to 40% Ethanol the only true E10 is the 92-93 octane fuels.

Again no written proof but have seen this first hand.

It will also cause rust in the engine, as ethanol is hydroscopic, now I don't know if 15% is a high enough percentage to cause corrosion but I would not choose to use it.Caliber 90 FT os91 c-spec

THANKS SMOKEY. I know they say octane doesn't matter to gassers since they can run 60 octane (??) Colemans, but so far, I have been running 93 octane out of habit from my old MX days running Sunoco racing fuel (107+ octane).

The ethanol in the fuel dries out the rubber pretty fast. Although I have made a few bucks from people leaving old fuel in there lawn mowers this year. if they have a gravity feed carb a simple soak in 91% rubbing alcohol seems to remove the granules of (I was told Sugar) blocking the jets. I will only run the high test in small motors after getting thrown a bit of work from the small motor shop near me. they are backed up over two months right now with most all of it being from the new ethanol fuels.

Here in Il there is ethanol in all gas for almost 20 years. The gas company probably gets paid to add it.

Btw my mower started right up but I likely ran it dry.
