My Blade 400 just started losing after about one and a half minutes. It's not a gradual loss, but suddenly the head speed us reduced by about half. First I thought the battery went bad and the ect was detecting low voltage, but the exact same thing happened with the next battery. When it did I again with the third battery, I landed, let the rotor spin down, let it rest for about 5 seconds, then took off again. Then it happened after about a half a minute. The durations continue to decline until my four minute timer goes off and I switch to the next battery. When I test the voltage after four minutes the cells are at about 3.9v +/- 0.01v. The batteries all seem fine. What could be causing this?

I think the first thing I would try is a rebind!

I was having a lot of vibrations, so I straightened the main shaft and installed new blades and the problem went away. It flies a lot smoother too. I guess somehow too much vibration causes the ect to switch to low power mode or something. Do other helis do the same?

Do you still have servo control, maybe something causing a brown out. Could be the esc over heating.

Servo controll was fine. I was still able to fly it with the lower head speed, but everything seemed slower. I wonder if all the vibrations caused the heli to require more power. Or maybe the vibrations were causing the battery to disconnect momentarily, but if that were the case I would expect it to happen at random times rather than after about 1.5 minutes the first time, then more and more often following nearly the same intervals with each battery. Strange.

Blade 400 Power Loss
Hey there Doug,
I have the same problem before a year
Ago on my Blade 400 , it turns out to be the esc
and I though my esc quit and stopped working so I
and up changing it with higher amp from 25 stock to
35 modified.Everything working good til now.When I
tested the old one and to use it on something else couple months later the stock esc starts to work
fine.Basically you have a glitch on your esc.As of
now change your esc with different amp and brand.
It may solve the problem.

Power Loss
Hey Doug

Like rotorbrain has already suggested you should start with trying another esc, especially if your confident it's not your batteries. I've had similar scenarios before that have ranged from esc or motor glitch to loose connectors on the batteries that didn't show up until flight. From there I'd move on to trying a different motor and If your lucky enough to have good flying buddies maybe someone will have a esc you can borrow to help rule it out! Good Luck!

Thanks for all the suggestions. For now it's been working fine since it straightened the rotor shaft and installed new blades to fix the vibrations. I've now flown through about 10 complete battery charges with no issues.

If it happens again without the vibrations, I'll be sure to try your suggestions.
