I really did not want to cut a hole in my canopy so I came up with this alternative to turning on and off my switch. You can see a slight Z bend in the wire by the clutch bell to clear the bell and the bottom gear, I then drilled a small hole in the canopy standoff to bring the wire all the way back through the canopy. Also came up with another option in the fourth picture. I used a threaded raptor standoff threaded onto the end of the bolt as shown.

One mile of road will take you one mile. One mile of runway will take you anywhere in the world.

That's really nice. Are you using an automatic glow or push glow?

Unfortunately I cut a hole in my canopy already to get to my auto starter and rx on/off switch. I may steal your idea when I get a new canopy

I too would be afraid that vibrations or maneuvers would turn off the switch with that much mass attached to it. Keep an eye on it

Fremco pin flag switch is hands down the best out there. if it fails, it fails in the on position. can be mounted anywhere.

Wow, I would not trust it either. The heli vibration might flip the switch for ya.

I use the bind plug as the on/off switch hooked up to the AR7100R. All I need is a 6in servo lead extension and a bind plug.

I would worry more about the weight of the rod plus the vibration causing wear on the switch contacts.
