How much bandwidth does online mode use up? I just tried it out last night for the first time.

Obviously all graphics and are produced locally, with only the data on the other player's models (and your own) being networked to and from the servers, so clearly it mustn't be that great. I'm just being cautious here because I use my mobile phone data as my wifi for everything.

Cheers.

I have dsl, 3mb down and 0.47mb up. And on RFG6.5 it does pretty good, unless I'm playing with more than 3 people at same time. Also if they are on a mic and changing models every few seconds it makes mine jummpy. I'm not sure how your phone will compare. I did fly with a guy from Australia, and he was useing his phone and he had trouble like me. But he said his service sucked.

Lot of factors involved. How many in room, what they are doing what they are flying. Sounds etc.

3MB up per hour? Wow, that's nothing. (I'm assuming you did mean megabytes, and not megabits... MB = Megabytes, Mb = Megabits.)

It actually ran quite smoothly. Sometimes the visual of the other player's models suffered slightly (choppy movement like robots), and I also did lose framerate on my own model a couple of times... but that seems to be a rare occurrence.

It was running just fine with 8 people on, which is pretty good considering that I'm not on 4G, only 3G.

Rotormaster, I believe RCHSF is indicating how much banbwidth he's paying for, not how much Phoenix is using. He's saying he has 3 megabits per second of download capacity and 0.47 megabits per second of upload capacity, and it's a bit slow so it's not enough. From your original post and your reply I get the impression that you have a limited amount of total download and upload capacity before you are charged extra, and you are concerned about how much extra that might be. I believe therefor that RCHSF hasn't answered the question that you asked.

We could infer from RCHSF's response that if 0.47 Mbps up is just barely not sufficient the maybe Phoenix is using at least 58.75 kilobytes every second, or 3.5 megabytes uploaded every minute. From that and your plan you could estimate what it will cost for every minute of flight time.

For download 3 Mbps is just barely not enough so that would be about 6 times more, or about 21 megabytes downloaded every minute.

Yes, I have a quite limited 8GB data allowance per month.

I have e-mailed Phoenix... I'll post their response.
