My charger just over charged 1 of the 2 packs I was charging. It's a 6s 5000 pack that the charger out it all the way to 4.56v each cell.

THE PACK IS HOT...

What do I do? The charger won't let me discharge it because it says the voltage is too high. I don't get how this happened? I have the charger set to stop at 4.21v at the max...

What do I do? I'm scared of it right now.

Just a guess here, put it in the freezer.

Or put it in a safe place outside until it cools

First, get a new charger!!! Something went wrong there and you are VERY lucky that you didn't have a lipo fire.

Next if you had something that could run off of 22 volts DC like a fan (project fans like sold at electronic stores) you could hook it up to the pack to discharge it a bit.

Did the pack puff as well?

Trust me, I know how lucky I am! The pack did seem to puff a little bit. The charger is a TP820 running with a Meanwell PS. Ill let it cool down a bit and see if that helps any. I don't have anything that I can run it through other than the heli...

Sooo, I shouldn't try to bleed off a little juice with the heli? I was thinking of just spooling it up and keeping it on the ground just to take some of the power out. It's only the one pack in a 12 system so hopefully by doing so it won't drain the other pack too low...?

Should I try that once its cool and be prepared for the worst?

I would hover it, land and check the temp of the battery, and repeat until you get it where you want it. Is the charger still under warranty?

That is a good recommendation given no other options. It should not take too long for it to bleed down a bit. Thunder Power charger....this isn't the first time I have heard of this happening. The last I heard is with the latest firmware update the problem was solved. Do you have the latest firmware on this charger?

Thanks for the tips guys! I ended up running it in the bird until it was down to 24.0v. That's still charged but at least it's not in "The danger zone". I ran both packs so now one pack is down to 20% and the other is still 98%.

As for the charger, I was told to update it so ill for sure be doing that tonight.

Man, I was scared. It took about 45min to cool down. Then I flew (sat on the ground spooled up) for about 6 mins. I kept stopping and checking it tho.

Again, thank you all for the fast responses! All should be good now. We'll see how the next charge goes. I may just cycle it on the charger after I update the fw.
