Still no news ?
My helis are full equipped : GPS, temperature, voltage, RPM but I still cannot analyze what I did after my flights :-(
Does somebody know if there is still a chance to get the datalog on the T18 or if it is going to arrive with the T24 only ?
Thanks

I have only used futaba transmitters but became tired of waiting for proper telemetry sensors and support from Futaba. I decided to give Jeti a try. Granted not as big of a company as futaba but they seem to be doing telemetry right. Can view graphs of telemetry data after a flight right on the transmitter or download to a pc software program and really have some fun.

No intention of hijacking the thread just wanted to let you know I am happy with the switch.

You mean that you can review the data directly on the transmitter and do not need a computer ?? I did not even know this feature was available on the market. I thought that Futaba was a little late on the telemetry features but they are like far behind!!!!
Does somebody know if they are like blocked by some wrong technological choices they did or if they just decided to slow down the development of telemetry technology ?
To summarize: is it worth to sell my T18 to change the brand or is there a chance for Futaba (I like their radios) to catch up the competitors shortly ?
Thanks

.
It depends. . . how much are you going to sell your 18MZ for?

Filou406,
Just made a quick video showing the Data analyzer built into the transmitter allowing you to bring a logged parameter and look at the data from a flight.

Wow it is really cool !!!!
Even in my dream it was not so cool. I will wait few more months with my T18 hoping that some Futaba engineers look at this video and get some ideas. If nothing new comes out I will change my transmitter.
Thanks

I hope Futaba comes thru for their customers as well.

With my Jeti and whiplash electric. I am using a helijive 120 with the jeti 200 amp current and voltage sensor. I had an oops moment on the sticks where full hard collective was applied to reverse direction and received a high current voice alarm. Did not hear the announced value due to the countdown timer going off as well. Checked the graph when I safed off the heli. Had a 160 amp spike on the helijive. Just love telemetry and the robust Kontronik product.

I've been using Graupner MX20 which does full telemetry data recording as well. But I decided to standardize all my receivers after getting the 18MZ. Not realizing 18MZ doesn't record telemetry, I sold the MX20, and have been kicking myself ever since.

I'm patiently waiting for Futaba to do their magic with the 18MZ as well. But those Jeti's are looking awfully attractive now...

The 18 will get it Next update. The new futaba car boat pistol grip radio coming out in a month or 2 has telemetry recording.

It is like the future sales of Jeti depend a lot on the ability for Futaba to provide a real update to the T18...

Jeti is some nice looking stuff!

A lot of people now days don't like to wait and will do what ever to
get what they want now.

I'm one of them. No patience here
But I won't be selling my 18mz though.

I feel that futaba does not under stand how people feel when someone drops 3k and still over 2.5 years latter no recording. Got mine in the first batch on 20-Dec-2011.

We all know the radio is capable of a lot more and are willing to wait a reasonable amount of time. But this is getting long.

I'm guessing the big New 14sg 18mz update is coming soon.

The first 18MZ radios shipped 19 months ago in December 2011. That's a hair over 1.5 years. Personally I am fascinated by the fixation some people have on the telemetry and potential for logging it.

I've got the GPS unit, a couple of the altitude sensors and an RPM sensor. I've gotten to the point where the novelty has worn off for me. I am more focused on the programming power the radio offers and the flexibility that gives me when setting up a heli, plane or glider (I fly all 3).

I've had other logging units before, in particular a GPS unit. After the first half dozen times using it I pretty much stopped messing with it.

Logging might be fun, but really? People are going to sell their radio if they cannot get it soon?? That's like selling your Ferrari because it cannot have a trailer hitch mounted to it

But that's just me. YMMV

I think that's the real question, what are folks going to do with all that logged telemetry data once it's recorded? Start building data warehouses and mining the data? Sounds like a lot of time and effort and I'm not sure how much long term value is there. I'd rather spend more time flying.

I like the idea of the main/RX pack voltages being displayed, but at this point I don't see myself incorporating other sensors. GPS would be nice for visualizing altitude occasionally, but I don't think I'd use it enough to justify the cost.

Just my $0.02.

I agree some telemetry data is a novelty like GPS. But data such as actual current, Mah consumed and temperature I feel are excellent piecesof information to have. To have that data associated with realtime alarms is even better. I never had the desire to create a database of all the telemetry recordings from each flight but to easily view my peak current after a flight right on the radio and make a decision on the drive train loading is of a great benifit. Do I have room to go up a tooth on the pinion or a degree or two of pitch. Now you have more definitive data to make that decision. Best of all with electrics is to fly based on MAH consumption rather than a flight timer.

Although I do not fly nitro I could see telemetry being of use. To have realtime feed back on engine temperature while in flight could help out a whole lot when it comes to tuning the fuel mixture.
