DX8 dedicated glider software...when???
Anyone heard any new info/rumors as to when this will be released on the spektrumrc.com website as an update? Horizon said end of March, but it's a no go and they've been silent on the issue with zero updates. The nice thing, though, is they decided to make it free when it was going to be a pay-to-play upgrade. It's about time. That was one HUGE deficiency of the DX8...no dedicated glider/sailplane software when all the other competitors in the class offered it out of the box...

Don't know about glider updates, but one thing Id love to see Spektrum do is allow the user to decide if they want to tie the throttle hold throttle trim to the normal mode throttle trim. Futaba provides this ability on their radios and it is a handy feature to have.

I hate to even mention the place, but you might try hopping over to *shudder* RCGroups and post that in the big DX8 thread in the "Radios" section. There's a guy there named Andy Kunz who claims to be some big Spektrum guru. He seems to know his crap and might know how to do it. I never use throttle trim because I only fly electric helis and planes.

If you select Common in the Trim Setup menu all the trims should be Common across all modes. Are you not seeing this?
Select FMode and they will be seperate for each mode.Seems like one way or the other you should be able to get what you want.

AFAIK the entire word of glider programming for the DX8 was announced by the German branch.I tend to think it was premature because as we all know its kind of out of place for HH to release news of upcoming products/features especially in the radios.I believe it was the same ones who also said it would be a paid upgrade.
A member of the development team(that actually works on the AirWare) stated that it would in fact be a free update and that it would be soon.IIRC it was stated to be in Beta testing at the moment and it would be released "soon" with no specific date associated to it.I tend to think that is more of a reasonable statement than the first rumors.
It is confirmed to be coming and it will be free. There is no hard date released.Soon is good enough for me.Have patience.

You're right, Aerocal. Free is good and whenever it gets here. It's not like I'm going to install the thing right away anyway. I will wait FULL WELL until it's been "vetted in the field" by actual users to make sure it doesn't F up my otherwise outstandingly performing DX8 like other firmware updates of theirs have been known to do.
