Check your clutch and fan hub to make sure they aren't broken. I have seen a few break before.

Hard mount your mini-v!

Use just a single layer of 3M tape no plate, and use a Velcro strap and pull it down as tight as you can. You want pressure from the top pushing down on the center of the unit. This will help your vibration problem.
I did this today and took the heli out. The swash seemed to calm down on the deck but when I got in the air the helicopter started twitching. It's kind of nerve racking when the tail just does a 180 on its own or the bird jerks right or left. I landed and the motor started to sound funny.

Check your clutch and fan hub to make sure they aren't broken. I have seen a few break before.
I think something must be broken and I am too aggravated right now to take it apart. I'm hoping to take it apart in the morning. If it is the clutch assembly at least I'll have any idea hopefully of where the whole problem originated. I want to get this helicopter running with this Vbar It flew great on the first day out when I finished the kit. I just did a few basic circuits and some slow pirouettes and it flew great. Great helicopter even though I'm having a few issues.

Thx again,
Andy

I took apart the motor assembly and my clutch is broken. Also I noticed that one of the starter shaft bearings is a little loose. I'm not sure why because I balanced everything when I assembled it. I am ordering the parts now and I'm hoping this is the problem but I guess I wont know until I get everything up and running again. If not, I am pulling the Vbar off and I'm going to try a unit that has a good nitro track record(if one exists). I don't mind trying to dial something in but this is getting ridiculous. I just want to fly I was looking at the Futaba unit but the problem is I am using a Spektrum TX and it looks like I would need some type of converter.

The VBAR has a great nitro track record, however you clutch was just too much out of whack.Team MikadoUSA 480XXTreme, 550SX, 600SX, 700XXTreme, 800XXTreme!!

FYI, I've seen broken clutches with the full sized vbar that didn't make it spaz out like that.Team POP Secret

Small heli, limited sensor placement, high revving engine, bad clutch, spaz out. Just because it didn't happen to you does not mean that won't happen. I had a bad connecting rod that gave me vibration issues on the Trex 700 that would cause the swash to flip out like that. Fixed the motor issue, problems went away. Any out of balance issues, especially on the motor side of a nitro, will cause headaches on any heli.Team MikadoUSA 480XXTreme, 550SX, 600SX, 700XXTreme, 800XXTreme!!

Oh yes, of course. The full size can spaz out with vibrations too. I only meant it is better at it than the mini.Team POP Secret

I'm hoping this is the problem. I don't even know why I am hoping. This should have not happened in the first place. There is no real way to adjust the way the motor sits in this helicopter. The suggestion is to 'wiggle' the motor and rotate the blades before tightening the motor mount to make sure it's aligned. I did that the first time with no luck. I hope I don't roll snake eyes again I really want this Vbar to work for me. Worse case scenario I will move the Vbar to an electric helicopter and put something different on this one.

Make sure to replace the clutch liner also. If the gap between clutch and liner is too large, the clutch will break prematurely.

I ordered a new clutch bell. I'm hoping it comes with the liner installed because it looks like a difficult task changing them out. The one that came with the kit had the liner installed. Someone mentioned that I need to balance the clutch. How would I go about doing that?

TIA,
Andy

I have never balanced a clutch either. I have balanced fans though. https://rc.runryder.com/t449018p1/ here is a thread that will help you.

I replaced the clutch, liner, starter shaft mount and bearings, and put a new plug in the motor . I also went back to my original mounting setup with one layer of 3m tape, the metal plate, a layer of 3m tape, and finally the Mini Vbar. I am guessing that my old start was wobbling so much during starting the helicopter it destroyed my bearings. I also purchased a new Align starter which I have to say is much better than my old Hobbico one. I am hoping to get out there today and I'm praying everything will be fine. Wish me luck.

Ahhh the sweet smell of success and nitro fuel in my hair I went flying and the only issue I have now is when I spool up the helicopter vibrates right before lift off and wants to tip over. I am used to that particular behavior on my 130x but it is a bit nerve racking on the NX4. I can live with it. I only went through six tanks of fuel but so far I love the Vbar. I did notice a twitch or two while flying but things calmed down after my first tank of fuel. I'm finding it's almost impossible to figure out these models without some type of guidance. Thank you everyone for the help.
