Federal judge rules morning-after pill must be available for women of all ages
A federal judge ruled Friday that the morning-after pill known as Plan B must be made available over the counter for women of all ages.

The Food and Drug Administration had initially decided to allow the emergency pill to be available for young teens. But Health and Human Services Secretary Kathleen Sebelius overruled the FDA in late 2011, and the agency limited availability without a prescription to women 17 and older.

The decision Friday by U.S. District Judge Edward Korman ordered the FDA to make the pill, commonly referred to as the abortion pill, available for all ages.

"This ruling places the health of young girls at risk," said Anna Higgins of the Family Research Council. "There is a real danger that Plan B may be given to young girls, under coercion or without their consent. The involvement of parents and medical professionals act as a safeguard for these young girls. However, today's ruling removes these commonsense protections."

Makes sense in today's bizzaro world. Heck, just bypass the FDA and the medical professionals with a ruling by a federal judge and "poof! it's a law".

That why we give free education to illegals...one federal activist judge makes a ruling bypassing congress, the President, all legal agencies, and all common sense.

Isn't that sexually discriminatory?

If a woman and a man have unprotected sex, what gives her the right to use his sperm?

Shouldn't men have the right to spike the woman's orange juice with the
morning after pill?

sorry to spoil the bliss of your ignorance but the guarantee of education to all children regardless of immigrant status was decided by the supreme court - hardly the result of an activist judge.

interesting how you folks pick and choose your constitutional arguments. the 2nd amendment is absolute but the 14th is not?

Don't worry about spoiling my bliss, but you might want to educate yourself a wee bit before showing your lack of knowledge.

It was the federal activist judge William Justice in Tyler, Texas that made this famous ruling (with the California Board of Education footing the bill on behalf of the illegals) back in the 70's.

Justice was the Democatic son of a local Democrat lawyer in Athens, Texas. William Justice managed to never work a day in his life as he lived the life of advantage. He was appointed to his position of abuse by (shock) LBJ, another slimey Democrat...but aren't all Democrats slimey? On a happy Democrat note: Teddy Kennedy is 3+ years sober...can he hold out?

Back to the case at hand. The supreme court chose not to reverse the ruling of the activist judge William Justice. It was the activist judge making the ruling.

You can always count on Democrats to be corrupt.

nice try, but my comment stands.

first, any case that makes it to the sc does so after appellate review. it may be ten years before the sc hears it and in that time many other cases emerge. second, as such, the case was the consolidation of several similar challenges, not only the texas statute. so the ruling of one particular judge isn't that important when it gets to the sc. last, the court does not rule in favor of judges. what the court did was uphold 14th amendment protections.

i'm sorry you find democrats so distasteful. I have many friends who are Rep and we seem to be able to discuss politics without name calling or slander.

It is my responsibility to teach my children right from wrong. NOT THE FREAK'N GOVERNMENT! If you want your 13 year old to have the morning after pill, then go buy them some. 18 and over ONLY. STF out of my life Big Gov and keep your F**Ked up morality to yourself.

To me, this is not a political discussion. It is a moral discussion. So we are basically giving the green light to our teens and pre-teens to have unquestionable sex. What a freak'n great society we have become.

Yes, I have two girls...and when the time comes, we will put them on the pill. I hope later than sooner. But that will be OUR decision...and ours alone.

AS for democrat vs republican, well, who gives a rats @ss. Red or blue, lib or conserv., this is our freak'n children we are talking about.

PARENTS, start doing your d@mn jobs and quit blaming society and the internet for all of your problems. Oh, and how about one parent being home all the time when the children are there? Its called good old parental supervision.

But your comment does not stand.

The ruling was made by the activist federal judge. The supreme court did not make the ruling...period!

The supreme choose to not over turn William Justice's wacky ruling.

I suppose the ruling does not seem wacky to you in your way of thinking.
i'm sorry you find democrats so distasteful. I have many friends who are Rep and we seem to be able to discuss politics without name calling or slander.
What do Republicans have to do with this? I'm not a Republican. You could just as well bring in trees or roller coasters into the coversation. I'm not a tree or a roller coaster either.

Who I am is an American that despises wacky activist federal judges. And that just happens to be opposed to people such as yourself that agree with bleeding the American taxpayer to pay for the free education given to illegals.

And of course, it's impossible for me to slander someone on a forum.

Not now...you have lost that right of decision.

You are 100% correct. Now comes the part as to whom is the most intrusive into our private lives. I believe the liberal Democrats take top honors in this area starting with the ridiculous ban on 32 oz sodas to the over the counter morning after pill.
