I bought this soldering iron from Experiencerc.com and am extremely happy with it. No issues soldering 10 gauge wire or any connectors.

I have the Hako station like the one from experience RC. It works from circuit boars to big 10 gage wires. It is ESD to protect you chips. There are many tips advible for it also.

Seller makes good ones also. You need to do a little research so you don't end up a cheap one that dose not control the tip temp.

I've had good luck with this unit:

For bigger wires you'll want to get a bevel tip, the conical tip it comes with is only good for delicate work.

The mother of all soldering stations.

http://www.amazon.com/Weller-WX1-Di...+soldering+iron

My friend Ed has this and it is unbelievable.
The biggest advantage I saw was it not only heats up to tempature in about 30 seconds. This unit will recover very fast when soldering.

So will the FX888 and it's only around $80. It does as well as my $400 Weller.

The Hakko is also nice and compact, so it doesn't take up much workbench space.
