AMA members and non-members please take our survey by April 12
The Academy of Model Aeronautics is implementing several research surveys during the next few months to help us serve you with new or improved services and membership value. If you have already completed the survey, we thank you.

Please complete the survey by April 12 to qualify for a model aircraft and radio prize drawing. Allow 10 to 15 minutes to complete the survey.

Does it really take the bribe of a drawing to get people to fill out a survey for the AMA? AMA is the center of all of this for me. We'd be a mess without it.

I wouldn't say a bribe, Marty. Look at it as more of an incentive to give AMA some input, especially from those who are not AMA members (since the survey is also open to non-members).~Jenni Alderman, AMA # 640475

I am not trying to be a smart a** but for someone like me that purchases models alone and flies them alone what does the AMA actually provide for the average Joe? I understand they may provide some insurance but I have my own health insurance in case I get hurt and there is nothing I can destroy where I fly. I would also have to mention that I am not a fan of big brother and governance in general and from the outside looking in I do not see the benefits.

And if you have a radio problem and your plane or heli flies off out of control for miles and hits someone jogging down the path?? It can happen, AMA is our voice with the gov. if it wasn't for AMA you would'nt have the freq. that you have now to fly, So What Can AMA do for YOU!! ALOT!! XGM/VGM

Uh oh here we go with the hypotheticals. My post was not to start an against/for AMA argument. Anything can happen with any sport or hobby we choose to be involved in. I am glad you are happy being a member and I might join to support the people here. If you know of an accident where someone lost control of their heli due to radio issues and it hit a jogger miles away I would enjoy reading it.

Thanks, Andy, for taking the survey. I don't want this thread to turn into a match about why someone should join, either; it's not a requirement to join the AMA and everyone's situations and preferences or reasonings to join or not are different. That's his or her prerogative. But I'm glad you took the time to look at the link and see what all AMA can do for you.

We are about a whole lot more than just insurance and a magazine; it's about keeping this hobby going well into the future by so many means. If it weren't for AMA, I wouldn't have ever gotten into this hobby or heli community and become friends with so many of you who I've met at events!

If by some chance you ever plan to register as a pilot or fly at IRCHA you are required to be an AMA member.

Survey completed, thanks for all you do, I'm sure there is way more than I could even imagine.
