1005 main gear
Went to Heliproz south to buy a replacement main gear (0207) for my 1005 and i see that it has been discontinued.
Anyone know where i can pickup one up. This is the black double sided plastic gear. Thanks.

I'm sure you have read this...
Sorry, but THIS ITEM IS DISCONTINUED PERMANENTLY, check below for the SMG.
We still have a few of these Schluter main gears. The color is a little strange, but they are made very well. You will need to drill some holes in order to bolt them to your auto hub, but that's easy to do.

Another option is to convert your X-cell to use the MA0866 (also shown below), which is a wonderful auto hub. Then you can use the CNC 90 tooth gear. It runs a lot smoother and the autos are stupendous.

The Whole Story
This is the same gear that has been used on all of the old X-cell models. Miniature looked into buying another batch, which would mean 500 pieces. That was probably something they would have done except for one thing. The cost quadrupled! I don't think you guys want to pay almost $60 for one of these gears.

They were molded in Europe and the man that used to make them owns the mold. A new mold would cost about $6,000. So why doesn't Miniature buy the mold? Because the mold wouldn't work with any modern injection molding machines we have access to. In addition, the plastic formula was a trade secret.

I remember when I converted my first X-cell to the 0866. I thought it was the best upgrade I had ever made. I don't think I've stripped a crown gear since. That alone is worth the price.

This is about the best you could do to your X-Cell...unless you could find someone who has a couple that would sell to you...

If I ever see a 1005 gasser for sale I always look to see if it has constant drive tail upgrade. I wouldn't want one unless cheap enough to make it worth the money to upgrade the main gear.

Black main gear
I have many of that type on hand because I always change out to the constant drive. If you want one send me money to cover shipping and handling ( $5.00 ought to cover it) and your address. It would probably be a good idea to give me a tooth count.

Hi,

Does anyone still have this mean gear?
I have an X-Cell gas and I'm afraid to fly because of not having a
spare main gear. (already used the other side)

Anyone any ideas about alternatives / urgrades or anything else ?

Thanks in advance...

Hello Everyone: I thought the gear from the Bergen Intrepid could be used as a replacement for the MA gear, but not positive. Maybe someone can confirm. Thanks!

Its simple
You just need the hub with one way bearing it in and the inner and outer gears on the hub and you're good to go.

Gears are 0865-90 and 0866-5, whole kit is 0866 with hub.

You could order a Bergen black gear
His father used to work for MA and alot of his designs were very similar to the time when he used to work for them, gear will fit except that its single sided.
