My very first generator was that harbor freight $89 job. It actually handled 20 amp charge rates OK. Noisey little thing but got the job done. Didnt have it long and decided I wanted 2000 watt unit thats when I got the Generac I mentioned. That one did fine but still wanted quieter as it was pretty loud compared to Honda or Yamaha equivalent. Bought Honda and got a bum one sold that and then got Yami. Very very happy ever since.

the complex geometry of that oil slinger dictated the plastic design. It simply would be too expensive to machine that. They could have changed the overall design to accomodate a yamaha crankrod style slinger but it might have impacted other aspects of the design.
Could probably make it out of molded Aluminum fairly easy. Full on machining would be costly no doubt. Curious how its designed on the commercial version of the GX100 engine. That one has metal cam and from lookes of slant cut gear on cam would think its gear driven like Yamaha and no belt. Wonder if oil slinger is different as well? Anyone know?

Although I bought two Yamaha 2000's a couple of years ago and didn't know many of the internal details then between the two, now that we have torn these two apart in this thread, I'm glad I choose the Yamahas.Wolves don't lose sleep over the opinions of sheep

Red vs. Blue debate is just for Red vs. Blue.
Nothing wrong with going with a more economical version. Most are usually pretty noisy though.
The 2000W Champion for sure isn't louder than the 2000W Yamaha..Glad I went with it because I can buy 3 2000W Champions for the cost of a Honda or Yamaha which won't do any better for what im useing it for..At 30A the idle moves a TINY bit...
Not poking at anyone with a Honda or Yamaha, just saying I would never need either as the Champion is way more gen than I need for field charging as I can run 2 iChargers off it if I wanted and its for sure not louder ...

Paid $900 for my Yamaha. Champion is $600. How do you figure you can buy 3 champions for price of Honda or Yamaha???

Here is a pic of the cam from the Honda GX100 commercial engine. This is what should be in the consumer version (the engine that is in the EU2000I)and the oil splasher is like the one in the Yamaha engine (on bottom of connecting rod) and this engine does use a timing belt, not a chain or gears. - Kris

You either don't read whats posted, don't know how to shop around or looked for the one that cost the most. Its $400.00 shipped or $300.00-$350.00 like mine was if you don't look for the one that cost the most ...
Like I said,I can buy 3...

Did a quick google search from work. Wasnt about to shop around for the best price on a genny i have zero interest in and apparently I missed your post when you mentioned what you paid. I posted cheapest of the prices from a quick search. Glad you can get 3 for that price since most knock off gens last 1/3 as long will work out great for ya

Yup,you never owned a Champion which isn't a knock off so i'll take your input with a grain of salt .Doesn't matter because all your past post in this thread pertty much says "my gen is the best no matter what" so you'll do and say whatever you can as it shows in this whole thread..Glad your happy with a $900.00 dollar gen that won't do any more at the field than my $350.00 dollar gen will..The Champion is also a little quieter imo. Here ya go incase ya missed it .

Watch at YouTube

Not replying to you, just saying but I think all of them are good because all will do the exact same thing at the field..If I had the $$ for a Yamaha/Honda,I still would of bought the Champion..Don't see a reason to blow $700.00 more for a gen that won't do anymore than this one will..All I would get out of it is the "look at me,I have a expensive gen" haha...
On a good note,I did learn alot from this thread on taken care of them so thanks for that guys ..

BTW,
No pun in my post so don't take it the wrong way...If this gen doesn't make it,i'll be sure to let you know..We do have 2 locals that have Champion gens, one had his for a year and the other going on 2 years..My buddy thats had his going on 2 years maxes out his TP charger charging two 6S 5000mAh packs and has been from day one with this gen so I really have no worries with it .

No I have never owned a champion you are correct. You can take what I say anyway you like. I do know the champion struggles to make 1300 watts and can't power things that the comparable Honda or Yamaha can. Did you not see the video comparing same load on Honda and champion? Also reviews say same thing. Guy had 1500 watt microwave and champion couldn't run it. Honda and Yamaha both did. Tried 1300 watt and couldn't run that either. I gave you a smart ass answer because you are always a smart ass in any post you make just like in the castle thread. Where did you get yours for price you did? Post a link showing it at $350. They are $598 cheapest price on a google search. Will it fill the needs of the hobby sure. Can you run 2 icharger setups on it like you claim? Doubtful unless at low amps. I can run 2 at 25 amps each all day long. Can you?

And for your vid yes it as quiet. The guy also said in vid Yamaha seemed touch louder because it was right next to the car and other was in open air. We had Honda and Yamaha side by side running same load and Yamaha was a hair quieter.

Just like you said I will do same with Yamaha. I absolutely will post if I have any issues as well. It benefits everyone having all info possible on all brands. You are right in saying for the average field use they all will be fine.

It's not? Then what is it? It is made in China and imported to the U.S. That sounds Knock off to me. What about warrantee? Where do you take it to get it fixed should it breakdown? What about parts?

Alot of people gave lots of useful info to back up their statements. Alot of us got carried away myself included, but we all learned about many different brands and features whether good or bad.

Back in the day when I bought a Dell computer, the next year it was practically worthless as far as resale valued goes. It was actually practically worthless right after I bought it. But then I got smart and started buying Apple computers. Now days I can sell last year's Apple laptop for about 75% of what I paid for it, and I can sell a 3-year-old Apple laptop for around 60% of what I paid for it.

I think the same holds true for the Honda generators. You can sell them for a reasonable price, but have you ever looked at the resale value on the off-brand generators? People are lucky to get $100 for a working inverter generator.

Honda generators do hold their value over the long haul.

kris L,
I did all my research and seems you should do the same before posting, you'll learn ALOT and it keeps you from guessing, read the below quote.I'll look later to see where Yamaha and Hondas are made but I never seen either of them names make anything in the U.S .All over seas so if the gens are made in the U.S,that will be the first ive seen..
Champions generally get positive reviews. yes they are made in China, however Champion owns the manufacturing plant and has a very strong hold here in the USA. They provide the customer service and the parts, and have networked with local repair shops should you need service.
I already found 17 local shops so no problems getting parts or service..

Anyways,
stang281472

So you know being as you don't,thats MY video and the Yamaha is louder.
Heres another one I took maxing my 1000W iCharger out..It just moved the idle up a tiny bit so im 100% sure i'll get over 300 more watts out of it..

Watch at YouTube

I also ran my 1000W shop lights today with it and again, the idle just went up a tiny bit.Would you like a video of that also? Not being funny and no pun intended so please don't take this the wrong way ---> Do you believe everything you see on the internet?I go by "personal experience".That guy could of gotton a bad one just like you did with the Honda along with bad reviews on Yamahas which shows it happens to the ALL..
Does it look like this guy has issues running A/C,lights ect... with his?

Watch at YouTube

Also,
Thanks for the info Stang ..Thats good to know stuff for anyone that owns gens..I didn't know any of that stuff and glad you talked about it ...
