Tens of thousands of generators in the field and all you have is three posts you copied and pasted from the Internet? No links available? No official reports?

By the way, I didn't see one of them refer to a melted camshaft.

No offense, but do you believe everything you read on the Internet?

Do you change your oil every 10-15 hours as recommended by someone earlier in this very thread? That's on the Internet too.

My two Yamaha 2000's run my 13,500. It's alot easier moving two small units around. I can even opt to only take one if that's all I plan on needing.

What Honda is comparable to the 2400?

Ace if you read on, many on their say it will run their 13,500. It all depends on the unit (A/C) and what else might be wrong. It might have wires in the trailer that are undersized and/or routed a long way. Could be loose connections or bad splicing by the trailer manuf.

Keep trying.

I am not running a/c at the field. I sometimes run 2 3010B @ 30amps each when charging flight packs and the Honda EU2000I that I had would not do it.

I don't find it bad to move around and I didn't want to go for the more $$ at the time.

Nothing.

One post alone was for an official recall for 150,600 units. Surely being the Honda fan you are you are aware that it was in fact an official recall. There was also an issue with one of the electrical harnesses which would cause it to stop producing power. My friend had it happen on his 2 month old unit last season.

There are plenty more links to Honda issues like loss of compression due to valves getting stuck open, carb issues are very very common, which could be eliminated with a fuel petcock seperate from the on off switch. Poor design in my opinion on Hondas part being it should be there being its clearly needed on that generator

Oh brother I thought Honda fanboys were bad lol. Everybody just buy what the hell you want.

I didn't buy a Yamaha because I once had a Yamaha outboard engine that was a pos. I guess it's the age old ford vs Chevy debate

I'm tired of the Honda vs Yamaha debate....

I'd really like to know how others are holding up? I find it hard to believe that the only way to charge my batteries at the field is by a Honda or Yamaha generator. Surely for the love there are other generators holding up to the task?? Champion 2000, Ryobi ryi2200 or generac's?

Can someone shed some light on other brands? Plastic cam shafts or not....

As mentioned earlier in this thread I had the generac 2000 before the Honda and aside from being a little louder it worked fine even charging at 30 amps like I do all the time at field.

Poor Jon... He just wants a generator for cheap that will charge his packs at field. Run reliable and for years.

Jon and I are very good friends and all the generators at our field are Honda's. He is tired of seeing Red. I want him to buy a Champion. Field Fire extinguishers need servicing anyway. Only one guy has a Castle as everyone flies Jive or YGE. Sadly no helis come carrening out of the sky on fire.

Get that Champion Jon!

LOL

Just dying to have a reason to try something else! All I see is red but can't find them cuz they are so quiet.

Actually leaning towards the new Ryobi RYI2200 but the champion is on my list too.

That is the sad part about Generac. They make HIGH END gens... Their largeer ones are used at hospitals and all kind of sensitive environments. Shame they just rebrand someone else's stuff for smaller consumer ones.Team Mikado USA -- Team Insane Canopy -- Team Scorpion -- Team Evo Power Batteries

couple of the $89 Harbor Freight 2 stroke gen's showed up at our field. They do work to charge stuff. I don't know what load they'd get to before shutting down but you could charge with it. I seem to remember getting to about 5A on a 6S pack, maybe.

Several guys at our feild use those harbor freight gennys. They seem to work ok but a few of them will start "Surging" with a Hyperion charger on it. Haven't tried my Thunder Power stuff on them yet. They aren't too loud and annoying till they start to do this. Then it gets quite annoying..

Three guys have Honda Gennys, they are quieter, but worth 1000 bucks? Probly but i don't think i'm going to go that route. I usually charge everyting before i go to the feild these days. Our old feild had power at the tables but it also had Plankers..

Anybody looked at these?
