Skookum 540
First time user of the Skookum 540!
Can't get a green lite when I exit setup. Just red blinking.
All servos move with TX inputs, in set up mode, when moving heli all blocks go to green and pink.
When I exit set up, light continues blinking red. What am I missing?
TX is set at 1 servo normal.

Just set mine up,,, and for some reason you have to have both sticks centered when you power up. This will let the gyro initialize. Make sure your throttle hold is up and working.

The skookum will tell you what throttle curves to use when you setup the gov. Use 1600, 1750, and 1900 for your headspeeds on that motor. You will enter the headspeeds in the skookum gov menu and it will tell you what throttle curves to use.Team Sanjel!

The skookum uses a different mindset then some other units but once you learn it, it is one of the easiest to use.Team Sanjel!

ZaaaGuy72, so was I correct about centering both sticks? That seems to be the only way i get mine to go solid green.

My bet is that you didn't set up your fail safe correctly and that is why it doesn't initialize unless you are at center stick. Mine initializes at low stick throttle and cyclic stick center, the way that it should.Team Sanjel!

Went thru the set up again and got a green lite with sticks in any position.
that's because you have auto trim enabled
you may leave it enabled. it's for your tx pods due to climate changes the centers vary a lil

as for the left stick it can be in any position however skookum recommends using TH when plugging in or starting your heli
spending time, paying attention

I have numerous SK units both 720's and 540's, mine all initialise no matter where the sticks are set.

What I have found that won't allow the Skookum to initialise is when the trims are out of centre on your radio either the trims on your radio or sub trim.

Part of my set up procedure involves setting sub trims in my radio so all inputs as shown on the setup screen all show 0 when the sticks are centered ...no need to worry abot collective.

The max and min collective, elevator, rudder and aileron are set up to 100% + and - using you travel adjust in the radio and also set 0 position using sub trim.

Unit will not initialise other wise.

The gov is easy to set up and works a treat...I have it on nitro and gas helis, the gas heli is using a stator gator.

Hope this helps.

Cheers

Craig.

One of the things I do with all my flybarless units is disable the trims in the tx.

I am also setting one up for thew first time. I like it a lot. I don't have any trouble getting green. My problem is that it drifts in a hover. I always use a swash leveler and did on this one too. I have Googled this and it seems common. I have yet to do a trim flight, but having anything other than a perfectly level swash seems wrong. Is a trim flight ALWAYS required with the 540?I have a 3D heli, I don't understand why it doesn't do 3D.
