I haven't had my toys out for a few years and have a question. Sorry if I'm rehashing old stuff but I have never been good at searching. My TX is on 72mhz I have two heils and a couple of planks on same 72mhz. Here is my question can I buy a 2.4 module and get some of the BDF planes and small heils set them up save them to one of the memories and just swap the TX module when flying my older stuff? I'm not interested in throughing away my working TX and RX if I don't have to. I fly mostly at home and by myself and the old stuff is not a problem.

Yes you can. I do the same thing with my 9303. Just swap out the module when I fly 72mh.

If you are going to be venturing into the world of flybarless helis, and use Spektrum satellites in place of a standard receiver, you may find yourself having nothing but trouble, especially if you happen to try to use DSMx satellites.

The Spektrum AirModule conversions do not play well with DSMx satellites teamed up with most FBL controllers.

If you don't intend to go that route, the AirModule is a good way to stretch your RC dollars.

Also, keep in mind that you won't get the "Model Match" feature which can keep you from accidentally trying to fly with the wrong model selected in the transmitter. That's a problem you currently deal with in 72 MHz land, so it may not matter to you.

You're using the AR7200BX, it's got a "regular" Spektrum radio inside, integrated with the BeastX. It will work fine with your converted XP9303. The Spektrum receiver and satellite combo will play together fine.

My comment with regard to FBL controllers that are stand alone, but rely solely upon the use of external receivers for their signals such as the 3GX system, or the IKON system. These controllers look at the serial data stream out of the satellites to figure out what to do with the received info from your transmitter. There appears to be some sort of incompatibility between the FBL controller's internal software and the satellite's software that the two don't communicate well when the satellites are DSMx and the transmitter is a radio converted from 72 MHz to 2.4 GHz using the Air Module plug in. There are also reports the problem may be made worse if you use an unregulated 3S LiPo in your transmitter. I don't know if the Vbar system shares this problem, but it is best to ask around before you drop some cash on that or any other system where you plan to use only external satellites for signal input.

MAKE CERTAIN that if you are using a Satellite receiver, however, that it IS a DSMx receiver. Do NOT mix a DSMx receiver (the AR7200BX) with a DSM2 satellite or you WILL have trouble.

I use a 9303 with BNF without an issue. Spectrum claims most of there stuff is backwards compatible, but.... Proceed with caution
