A cheap starter on 4 cell LiPo works great. Once an engine is broken in, Align starters work too with high C packs, but I hate the jack hammer effect.

I have a 15 year old tower hobbies on 4 cell, everyone at the field grabs it for their 105 and 120 nitros when their Align's struggle. The Dynatrons on 6 cell are almost too powerful, hard on the OWB/couplers. I have a Dynatron and prefer the old starter better. Kind of funny on how the old cheap one is the favorite.

I'm gonna try the Hobbico on 5s If that doesn't work, I will try the Align on 5S. If they both fail I will buy a Dynatron.

If you have to buy a battery, I would suggest a 3000 mah 4 cell LiPo, it is not as much of a voltage shock to a 12 v motor (pun intended). Mine has started every heli engine and a few big plank engines at our club.

dynatron on 6 cells is awesome. Im not saying it is good on helis for hydro lock, but they will run on 24 volts, and trun over some huge props on planes. needed one to turn over my Moki 2.10 a few times and on 22-24 volts, nothing stops it

the windings in those starters are great.. even on 12 volt it has a ton more torque then a regular starter.
