The packs from HK are never under any kind of warranty.
For the price, you just toss it and buy another one.

To get a warranty, you have to get packs that are about 5 times the cost.

I literally never use the word literally right.

Best to just go on readyheli.com and get Thor lipos. They are a fair price and work great. You get what you pay for

Just having fun..

I had many Turnigy's drop cells, the ratio for me is 1 in every 3 packs from Hobby King for turnigy cells going dead prematurely or dead from the factory. Even if its new from them I still get warranty problems. The packs are cheap is whats going for it, and if its good you get a decent amount of cycles.

From what you guys are saying buy cheap buy twice seems to be what i'm hearing i know these li-po's are cheaper than the equivalent like thunder power
But we as british still have our laws in consumer rights and if the good are not up to the standard specified in what the retailers are specifing then they should replace or refund coins.
these li-po's have only been hoverd not even broken in yet 2 flights are you saying i should just accept it and buy another lol
I have been onto the trading standards and they are in agreement that the goods should be to the standard as avertised, the warrenty of 1 month is a retailer warrenty not in your statutory rights.

Batteries
Ive been using Power Edge R/C packs for three years now & I love them. Fair price, warranty, and great service.

I'm still using several 5000,2200,3700,1000mah packs from three years ago and still going strong.

I have bought close to 2 dozen lipos from HK in less than a years time. I've received 1 bad battery in that time which happened to be a 6s 3300mah battery. It had a bad cell before I ever used it and they did make good on the battery, but I had to pay to ship it back as well as pay shipping on the new battery. They're customer service sucks but you get what you pay for.

I have the same issue I had a battery start swelling 5 days after the warranty ran out, the pack had only been run 8 times, so I decided to rwplace the bad cell recently
When I took the label off I was shocked to find the cell that failed was a 3000 mah 25c cell in a 2650 45c pack ! I contacted hobby king about it and was givin the same responce Its out of warranty and wont be replaced.
This is ridiculis
For those of you trying to save a buck on lipos I strongly suggest you stay aware from hobby king lipos it would suck if your 1500 dollar heli burned to the ground or worse yet you burn your house down because the battery was built like mine.
It is ckearly false advertising on hobby kings part to say on the label that the cells are matched !

well today I chanced it and started to charge the pack with out the balance port. before that it read:
1) 3.85 2) 3.83 3) 3.80 4) 3.00 5)0.00 6) 3.83

The second I put a charge on the pack I got 3.00 on the bad cell.
I had previously confirmed 0.00v with 3 different testers.

as I said I didn't have it on the balance port but I had my tester on it and saw the voltage jump to 3.00v immediately when the charger kicked on.

so far I am slow charging it at .5 amps and its actually balancing out. I will continue to slow charge the pack till it finishes.

Then cycle it 3 or 4 times. I think it should be fine.

Over the years I've have literally dozens of turnigy packs from hk. Only had 1 that was a bit too far out of balance for my liking, sent it back and got a replacement!

Here's what you do, as soon as you receive your pack or packs, enter the warranty code which is on the bar code on the side of the pack into the hk site. Next check the balance by plugging a cell checker into the balance lead, if all cells register and are within 0.1v crocodile clip the leads to your charger (please use a good charger!), charge the pack at about 0.5c, if all goes well the pack will be fine and you can go ahead and solder your own connector on and proceed with break in. If it is out by more than 0.1v AND doesn't balance quickly and easily on your charger, contact hk and send the pack back with the returns form.

60% of the time, it works every time!

That s great it worked out for you, but all cells regardless of there mah rating will read the same voltage so I never questioned my pack, till it came down twice its size and 160 degrees

Each cell is printed on the foil for mah and c rating, the replacement 2 cell that I bought to fix it was clearly marked 2650 45c.

Yes each cell is marked and is visible when you remove the shrink wrap, yiu can only see the outside cell without tearing the whole pack apart

The trick is to spot a bad cell in the beginning and knowing how to make your packs last.

So explain to me how I was suppose to spot this bad cell buy your method

Each cell shows correct voltage when tested and the internal resistance was normal, so with your method the pack was good , even though it was built with a 3000 mah cell rated at 25 c

I bought 4 of the Turnigy 3000s (6s, 35C) together about 3 years ago, and they were fine. I got 2+ years out of these packs on a 12S setup.

Are you sure that there's nothing wrong with the balancing harness? I've worn out balancing leads before, on both the battery AND the charger side of the connection. Sometimes you need to jiggle things.
