I though I give the sk720 a try last year. Ive used vbar, beast , and align fbl systems in the past. Well I should have done some more research before I layed down my hard earned cash After setting up the system and getting it flying I was ready to setup the gov. I am trying to setup the gov for a predator nx gasser. This isnt covered in the manual and Skookum has decided that they are only going to support electrics, none of the video guilds they have made for this lame duck cover nitro or gass heli's at all.

Anyone know of any videos or instructions for setting the throttle and Gov up for nitro or gassers?
Id sell this and get a vbar or something with nitro / gasser support if I could get more than ½ my money out of it but it looks like Im stuck with it. Id at least like to get it working.

Just follow the gov setup wizard and use the Nitro mode.
What are you having trouble with?

1.
I cant tell if the sk720 gov is reading the stater gator sensor.
is there some way to check this?
2. I dont want normal mode governed, how do I shut gov off for normal but keep it at 2000 for idle 1 ?

The SK's don't have a sensor test utility. Actually, you can test it using the logs which is a better test but not what you're looking for. I wish they did have this but I have an old multigov that I use as a sensor checker.
Frankly, it is not a bad idea to do your initial flights with gov disabled. Make sure cyclic and tail is working well, check logs and then enable gov. I don't practice what I preach though. I usually just set it all up at once and go.

As for governing in normal mode, the SK's have all 3 modes governed or all 3 are not. There is an option to disable gov in tail bank 2 meant to be used for engine tuning. Might be able to do what you want. I've never used it though.

I did setup and test flew everything. I had some vibration issues that Ive gotten mostly taken care of. I should know for sure after the next flight.
The performance is disapointing so far. I havent been able to get the tail to feel right yet. still have some dolpining in FF flight that I havent been able to tune out. I wouldnt put one of these on another Heli if I got it for free.

Thanks for the advise on the gov. As soon as I get a bit of warm weather Ill test it again.

Well spring is here . Tried out the sk720 Gov on my gasser. As soon as the motor starts picking up rpm the gov starts cutting the throtle in and out.

I dont know what to do with this POS. Its just ****ed up the they have setup videos that only inlude electrics No gas or nitro. If they are not going to support gas / nitro they shouldnt advertise that they do.

Well great news , I dont hve to worry about the 720s gov anymore. I unhooked it and did a test hop. Got the heli about ten feet up and the tail let go. I autoed it. Should have been fine but the SK720 threw the heli over on its side. Im done with the Pred. I dont know what possed me to buy a gasser. The 720 I gingerly removed took to my bench and fixed with a three pound hammer. I'll never have to deal with it again.

From drop down menu( View ) go to Display voltage/RPM data and click on it, it has a blue dot when it is triggered.

Thanks dcorum but I no longer have the 720 , I wasnt kidding I took it off beat the crap out of it with a hammer. I probably should have tried selling it but I wont pass a piece of junk like that on to someone else.

Hey UncleTy....
If you knew his background with Skoocom units, hitting it with a hammer is no surprise to me at all..
What was a surprise to me was that he had bought another!! I just figured he had gotten some good info from someone that was running that set up.. guess not...
I tried the first one I think a 360, did not like it and sold it...there are people that swear byvthem...I was swearing at mine.. then awhile went by and I bought 2 of the 720's... I installed one and it felt just like the 360.. out it came and sold them both.. now I run Beast X, Heli Command, and Vbar... these seem to work the best for me...and I feel it is nothing more then a personal taste..
But if a unit is advertised to work with all, it should then...
I can fully understand his frustration.. sometimes hitting something just makes things feel good for a bit, anyway!!

Uncle TY . Take a peek at my gallery. I dare say I didnt build all those helis without some measure of patience.
As far as supporting that company No way in @#$%. I responded to there you tube video about the lack of nitro / gasser support. months later I commented again. They didnt booth shooting a video , it was much easier for them to simply remove my posts and ban be from making any more.

They probably should have realized they can't please everyone and offered you a refund...but that's me.

What exactly did you have trouble with?

BTW, I thought there was video coverage for IC powered??? I could be wrong, I never watched more than a few seconds of the videos, just followed the wizards.

I had a number of problems with it.
I never could get it dial in very well.
latest problems where gov not working
and tail gyro issues.

Its also not exactly my 1st rodeo here. Ive done other flybarless
systems.
I didnt find anything on IC for it, and I spent a while looking.
In the end I'll cost them more in lost sales than they cost me.
I go to events throughout the northeast and am fequently ask for advise. When asked about flybarless it will go something like this
v-bar - Great
align 3g - not a vbar but it will work for most
sk anything - Id rather run my heli over with a truck than put one on.

Well, it's probably a little late to try to help but nitro setup is explained pretty thoroughly in the wizards.
Honestly, I find it kind of annoying to have to sit through a video trying to figure out how to set up something. A wizzard that steps me through every setting and lets me set it right there and adapts to the entries as I go along (becomes nitro specific when I choose Nitro for example) is much more efficient for me.
