My friend and I had the idea to build TREX 800N DFC because we would like to know the characteristic of the 800 nitro motor. We have built it and got it done! Here is the details....

First start off at the tail boom. We use the Align tail boom conversion from 700 to 800 part.

For the blades, we use the Align 800mm that come with the Trekker. Along side with TREX 600N DFC and TREX 450 DFC.

The motor is definitely go with the OS 105HZ-R and Power Boost exhaust pipe but plan to change the pipe to Hatori this weekend.:Bang

For the Clutch, we use the Lynx clutch and change the gear set to 700N DFC and add the third bearing block from KDE.

The main rotor head, we use the 700N DFC main rotor head, include swashplate and mainshaft. we also use the 800E linkage rod and change the bearing block to thrusted bearing block from OMG Thailand.

For the cyclic servo, we use Align DS615 x 3 and Align DS655 x 2 one for rudder and one for throttle (will be Align 700HV and Align 750HV soon!), deliver electrical power at 6V to servos and 5.2V to MSH Brain with Gryphon Extreme.

Ignite the motor with Gryphon Auto Booster, just only pop the switch on the transmitter and start up the motor (very fast and convenient). :Bang

For the tail, we use the tail case and tail pitch from the 700N DFC. Also, change the tail linkage from plastic to aluminum with bearing from OMG Thailand.

For the tail blades, we use the tail blades from SAB Division 115mm. (Changed to Align 115mm later)

That's all with this TREX 800N DFC.

Unfortunately, after tested it harder and harder on 3D. We ended up with the 800mm main blades hit the 115mm tail blades Which let us know about using the Align tail boom conversion from 700 to 800 part can not be handled the 800mm main blades. The maximum length that the Align tail boom conversion from 700 to 800 part can be handled is 780mm.

After that, we ordered the TREX 800E TREKKER tail set, yes tail set which are

- H80T001XXW 800E Tail Boom Mount
- H80T002XXW 800E Metal Stabilizer Belt
- H80T003XXW 800E Metal Tail Torque Tube Unit
- H80T004XXW 800E Carbon Stabilizer/2.0mm
- H80T011XXW 800E Torque Tube
- H80T006XXW 800E Carbon Tail Control Rod Assembly
- H80T009XXW 800E Tail Control Guide
- H80T005XXW 800E Carbon Fiber Tail Boom Set

And again, we faced to a major problem of tail hum. We had to order the black gear set of 700N DFC. The most important part is the tail shaft and tail hub that the size has been changed "bigger". Also, changed from Align 115mm tail blades to 116mm Rail Blades and the hum was fixed since then.

The characteristic of this TREX 800N is fantastic, moving so fast not slow at all since I changed all servos to HV from TREX 800E. The video above was FF and the motor was not broken in yet.

Right now, I can say that I have a real 800 Nitro because most parts are from TREX 800E DFC, The difference is just the air frame that used TREX 700N not DFC.

Hope this help.

Good write up and video .
You can hear that 105 getting loaded up though , would imagine that the ys 120 would take care of that .
I'm currently thinking of a 29 cc zenoah conversion get I think it may work well with your heli :-)

Here is the clip that the main blades hit the tail blades. In this clip was changing from DS615, DS655 to BL700HV, BL750HV and also changing from Power Boost II to Hatori Pipe.

Here are more pictures of the latest mod by using ALIGN TREX 800E TREKKER tail set. I also replace the DFC head with the SXT from KDE and feeling much better in the air, more locked in, kinda like ease in and ease out, no more wobble on 1950 HS.

What main gear ratio are you running with that 105? And what headspeed? Does Align offer optional pinions or main gear sizes?
Thanks
Todd

I am using the 700N DFC gear ratio which is 8.0, the headspeed is 2,000 rpm with Wildcat CY30%. Align does not offer optional pinions or main gear sizes.

on a nitro you can either use 8-1 or 8.4-1
on the 800 I would say 8.4-1 and a 1950 head speed will give you loads of torque

You need more power than a 1.05 or 1.20.. Maybe a 1.50 would make it sing..
