I was going to order a set of 272 servos and found that they are discontinued? Was there a problem with these servos or what?

What’s the replacement for my FBL E720?

Tower had a “Possible Substitutions” button but it leads to a dead end?

Is there going to be a BLS273HV in the near future – I do need a set of servos.

BLS255 is the current best choice for cyclic. I have them in my own G4 E720.

255 and 272 are the same - 272 is S-bus that it all. On a heli you dont use S-bus to servos - only to FBL unit...

A common misconception. S.Bus servos can be programmed for centering and multiple other functions using free computer software or a transmitter like the 18MZ; this functionality is applicable to helicopters. A progressively increasing number of new Futaba servos will be S.Bus. The technology adds nothing to servo cost but gives added flexibility to the end user in need of it.

More to the point Dr Ben - why are they being discontinued? (if they are)

Ben, that was my question also – why were they discontinued and what’s the replacement?

If there is something much better that will be out any day then I will want to wait for the latest technology. I really need to know before I spend a lot of money for a set of servos.

I have heard that they are expecting some new servos soon but know one has the details yet. They are probably optimizing them for all the new 800 size helicopters coming out this year. Futaba has always been very tight lipped about new products until they are ready to ship.

I am comfortable saying that whatever Futaba has in the pipe will be every bit as capable or more so than the servo it replaces.
