I crashed my N5 a few weeks back, and since I have to rebuild I was thinking of converting it to electic. I was wondering if anybody has converted a N5 to electric? I know that some parts a the same but most of the frame isn't. Any help or advise would be great.

It would be an awesome project! A lot of customizing though I would imagine. Creating a motor mount, some type of battery mounting system.. wonder if the time and engineering invested if you wouldnt be better waiting for a 10% off sale and just buy an E5 and stretch it to a 600? Not gettin ya down though, I do enjoy seeing what some folks are capable of creating!

Let me clarify, I ment to ask, has anyone converted a N5 to E5/E6, using actual E5/E6 parts? Not just "converting" a nitro to eletirc.

on the e6/7 are a wider frame so you pretty much would be buying a new heli. not for sure about the e5 but looks wider.

Yes, I understand that they are wider. But I can use the all the tail parts and all head parts. So I would just have to buy E5 frames, motor mount and all frame spacers.

Actually, the E5 is TT only so your belt drive components would only work on a E6/7 frame. Off the top of my head, you would need:

Main shaft
Main gear
Frames
Bearing blocks
Frame spacers/bottom plate
Motor mount/pinion
Assorted hardware

It's possible but most likely would cost almost as much as a E5 kit, which is better (lighter) as a 600.

I started adding up the parts and it exceeds $600.

Like Darren said, Team Synergy Brandon Wheaton (BMW576) Did it and it was Bad Ars. I believe he still has the file.
