Whiplash gasser with TRM VX270TT,
Needles are
L:1 1/8
H: 1 1/8
My last tank in breakin in now is finshed, 32:1 ashless
Engine starts with just one pull, the problem is the vibration, 5 of 4mm screws broke from my heli, I've changed the main blades to my old good balnced blades, but it still has vibration, I am very sure it is the flywheel or clutch, AND MR TOXIC doesn't answer me at all, I called him 15 times and he answered me 2 times, with a very bad recommendaion that doesn't help me at all, I found all needed infos in the internet actually and helped me alot.
1- How to solve this problem my self?
2- Do I really need to send it to BH hanson to make real modification and balancing for it, F... to TRM))
Thanks

Hope you get it figured out, and keep us up todate. I'm thinking of going with the Whiplash gasser with same eng.

On a new engine, I run mine richer. I suggest you pull the muffler and make sure you did not run it too lean damaging the piston and cylinder. An overheated engine can cause excess vibration.

Why should I pull the fan out, Why did I buy an modified engine from TRM, is this my job?

DO you think clutch will do this Vibration????

I think it is the Flywheel from MR AL ((TRM Guy)).

Plus I dont see any sign of Balancing the Fan there, ZERO.

I hope than I can balance it like all my nitros.

I shouldn't trust TRM engine with 520$ engine, this was my fault, the RC zenoah from DDM is 250$, OMG I am very sad.

@ 1-1/8th turns out...I'm thinking its lean. According to the instructions...1-1/8 turn out is the starting point (accually 1-1/8 to 1-1/4). Should have opened the needles a wee bit every other to 3 flight.

At least that's the way I understand the instructions...unless I'm wrong!

Ok...maybe I'm missing something here... However, if it will "not" vibrate that much if the needles are not right...then make them not right and your problem is solved!

I'm curious as well. The engine should not need to be balanced at all if it came from an engine modifier. They do say the crankshaft can be twisted if your not carefull while tightening the clutch onto the engine. But for all I know this was already installed for you because I thought the rc engines came with a clutch. Maybe you need to send it back to TRM and have them check it out but it could be something on the heli causing the vibration. I am starting to think it would be a good idea for the engine modifiers to break these engines in for you guys that buy them. They should set up an engine stand that can just let the engine run for a few hours before they ship them out. Seems like a good idea to me other than when you get you new engine it will look used. I remember all the freaking problems I had getting my spectra to run good but after the first year it has been a joy to fly. Never a stall or no start or anything bad other than a few servos having gone bad.

Whippy with TRM VX270TT VIBRATION
No matter what, it is still an industrial engine, and not designed for r/c heli's. I have used these for years in my fixed wings, and they vibrate. Its a nature of the beast. Boat anchor?? I go with all the suggestions to mess with your needle settings. You don't have much to lose, and if it does not work pull the engine, and at least put a dial indicator on the hub, and fan to check for runout. My guess is if not runout, then it all needs to be balanced. Balancing and truing with a dial indicator is just part of flying r/c heli's. Good luck, and I hope you get it working to your satisfaction.

Step back, take a deep breath and relax. Then go at it carefully. We have all been there. I have been so peeed off I wanted to take it by the tail boom and beat it to death. Thats when I walk away and come back later with a cool head.
