without servo linkage hooked up, make sure your tail pitch assembly is super buttery smooth, it might be binding.

If everything is hooked up properly it sounds like u may need to use the reverse function on the gyro. What gyro are you using and does it want to whip around while your adding power?

Is it belt or shaft drive? A few questions need to be answered but the solution is usually very simple.

I second the reverse function on the gyro.

Make sure tail blades have leading edge going in the right direction and check to see if it has trailing edge control or leading edge control on the blade grips.

If your mechanical setup is correct.
First check and make sure you're tail rotor is moving in the right direction, normally moving the tx ruder stick to the right the tail rotor control will move forward. If that is the case moving the moving the nose to the left the tail control rod should move forward, if not reverse function on the gyro.

If the wings are traveling faster than the fuselage, it's probably a helicopter.

A little to the right and down!

If the tail is belt driven, my guess would be that you put the twist in the belt in the wrong direction.

If you spool up and it does circles, 99% of the time means the gyro needs to be reversed.
