"HK is causing Hobby Shops to close"

Hobby shops close because when RC flyers walk into them, they are full of RC truck stuff and have nothing on the shelves for us. Period. I cringe whenever they say that they can order something. So can I, baby.

I'm not so sure I believe in the whole karma thing. I am not religious at all. Having said that, I would at least make an attempt to contact HK regardless of my perception of them; I know if it were MY order that was lost (and someone else had it), I'd me mighty pissed off. Me keeping something they mistakenly sent to someone else sure isn't going to 'teach HK a lesson', just like blocking that last-minute lane-changer on the highway doesn't teach them a lesson.

The lost product wouldn't have been my fault, but I would have paid the price if I had been the original purchaser.

If I could do something to help someone else avoid going through that needless frustration, then I will. I can hope that someone would do it for me. Some will, some won't, it's just the way it goes. We ALL know how frustrating it is to order something, wait for it to come, and it never does.

Just because federal law says I could keep something shipped to me (even in error), that doesn't mean I won't make honest attempts to find the rightful owner. I might even ship it to them out of my own pocket if I were to find them. It's just the kind of guy I am.

If, after all attempts I am still unable to locate the purchaser or contact the seller, then I would have no problem keeping it as I did my due diligence and my conscience would be clear.

HOWEVER:
If everyone acted the same and made the same choices, it would be a very boring planet.

I just received probably what is an $7 book from amazon, shipped to my address with my name on it, never ordered it or even looked at the book on amazon.com. I tried to call to talk to someone to see if they wanted it back, the process was so time consuming and frustrating I gave up.

How does that apply in this case? Federal law, after all, clearly states that the merchandise is now hootowl's property and he has no legal obligation to return or pay for the merchandise. Therefore, no theft has occured.

As far as I'm concerned, it's in HK's court. I didn't have to do anything. Heck I thought the first responses to this was going to be "Good job Hoot"

Really? Please quote the exact law that states this.......Is it in the "Finders Keepers Clause"?

Justify it to yourself however you want.....keeping the equipment without making a "reasonable effort" to return it is not the "right" thing to do...

And your contention that HK is an immoral company so they deserve to be harmed (even if very slightly)is tenuous at best........they had your address to ship to in the first place.....did they pull this out of thin air? Oh....thats right.....you've ordered from them before.....I guess they're only immoral when you dont need stuff from them.......

Now the "reasonable effort" part.....you may have already done this with your note through their service. It's up to them to follow up. I would expect them to either write off the equipment or send you a post paid return shipper. I would let the stuff sit until they committed to one or the other....therefore...you are doing the right thing and now its up to HK to determine the next move. If you wait a reasonable amount of time and they have not followed up....then I would consider the equipment abandoned and free to do whatever you want with....use sell...whatever....
Now.....If they investigate and determine that they shipped the equipment to you in error....and you dont return it......then what would you think if they decided to charge your card for the equipment anyway then ban you from ever ordering from them again.......might be that karma thing coming back to haunt ya....

That would be illegal per the same law.

A package shows up at my doorstep addressed to me at the mistake of HK.

I contacted HK to see if they will send a call tag. If they do I will graciously take it to the post office.

If they ask me to do anything more, not doin it.

Simple as that.

The rest of this thread is pure entertainment.

If they pay the shipping fee back Up Front. I'd mail it to them if asked nicely. But sure as hell not going to pay it for them. If they mail me something in error I'm keeping it, unless asked to return. After all I did not give them permission to write my name on anything.

Most of you guys need to get off your very very "HIGH HORSES". I hate all forms of theft, this is not even close not even in the same universe as theft. Bad Karma, wow "Karma" we would all be screwed then, Bad Karma come on! This kind of stuff burns my britches. The guy got a box of "crap" that he did not order and does not know what to do with and he might be facing bad karma or calling him a thief. Wow!

Stop be so freaking critical of each other and GO FLY your "TOY HELICOPTER"......

Exactly.

Here is a note on HK's website...
Slight delay for orders to DE
Evan Feb 04 • Announcements

According to our local shipping courier, due to close confinement and custom checks for Lithium product in DE recently, orders from International warehouse to Germany are expected to have a slight delay. We will closely follow up this issue with our shipping partner.

Again, we wish you all a happy Chinese New Year!
Now do you think I should mail lipos like they do? They don't have to label the package but I do?
