Realy thinking about a 770 ,have flown nitro for 3 yrs??? want to know from you guys out there who actualy fly these monsters ,would you go with a 12s system or 14s ,I'm a mild 3d guy but like the power like any of us! I know i need to consider a 7 cell charger vs a 6 cell and all that added cost, but does this bird fly realy good on the more common 12s?

770
a 770-800mm machine flies fine on 12s ...but definitely better on 14s.

I flew a stretched out trex/Wolf 800mm machine all last summer on 12s and it was great...the goblin 770 is about the same weight as that machine so i'm sure it would be fine on 12s...but I like to fly 3d so I converted my 800 to 14s and it's MUCH better..less amp draw

on 12s 5000mah I was only getting around 3:45-4:00 of flight with that 800mm setup

I built my Goblin 770 for 16s but only because I had a motor/esc for 16s that I wasn't using.

I think a 14s setup would be ideal..if you get a cellpro charger you can do up to 6x8s packs at once...that's what I use.

so going 14s or 16s is not hard...if you don't have all the stuff to go 14s then I'd just try 12s for now...you can always upgrade later.

Even if you buy a Quantum 4530/450Kv motor now and run it on 12s ...you an run that on 14s later

get a YGE 160HV esc as they support 14s ...and if you special order it they can be cranked up for 16s at no extra cost

12s works but on this size it taxes them. If you can swing it 14s is much more ideal.

How much flight time would you get on 14cell?

NO FLYBARS

Same or better but with more power and of course relative to energy density. Ie: 7s-4400=6s-5000

It will fly just fine on 12s and will have all the power you need. Power is mainly down to motor size so something like an Align 800MX or Scorpion 4530 will pull it like a train on 12s. Ide recommend higher mah packs, nano-tech 6s 6000mah 25-50C for example.

Didn't know you owned and flown one Richard? Sure it will work absolutely just know and expect 250+ amp spikes and that your packs must be to task or expect low life cycle is all.

Here is my 770 being flown by Manny on 12S. We actually geared down the pinion so we are running 100% throttle (no governor) at 2100 rpm. Everything comes back warm (not hot) with 3.78V left in the cells after 4 mins non-stop 3D'g. Not bad.

Oicu, see where I recommended 6s 6000 packs, this should more than cover the slightly higher current. Sure you may need to go up a size on the esc say a 160 instead of 120 but it will still be a cheaper esc!

With the goblin we are only talking about an extra 60-80mm of blade compared to a 700, look at the trex trekker 800, does fine on 6s 5000 packs and a 120 amp esc AND runs actual 800 blades instead of 770.
