We have been testing lots of different TRM motors for Al over the past 6 months as he continues to work at developing more reliable, flyable, and powerful gas engines...

This particular engine we are testing in this video is a 29.5cc stroker engine. While in final form I will be flying it with a Don Shank / Quickdraw pipe we wanted to see how it performed with a more mainstream muffler instead of a performance enhancing pipe. We have done all out testing to date with a cheapo RJX muffler and that is what is on it as it is flown here...

The engine only has about 2 gallons through it so it has still not hit it's peak performance but its running pretty well.

In this video it is running 1950 Head Speed using a MultiGov pro and a HC3SX FBL contoller. We tested it at lots of different RPM ranges and found that at this RPM the motor pulls very strong and when you do load it down it recovers very quickly without the need for cyclic babying....

We have it set up with 12.5 deg of pitch and we were also using some really inexpensive Mavrikk Sport FBL blades.

I was surprised how much Mitch enjoyed flying it having spent so much time flying the Quickdraw 270. Although this engine does not have the WOT power of the Quickdraw 270 it has a midrange (where you do a lot of flying) that is just as strong.

Although I expected to have it use significantly more fuel, it has not been very much more than the Quickdraw 270. I do believe that when we install the Quickdraw it will probably increase fuel consumption but I am sure we can still get 11 minutes of hard 3D.

We have at least one more muffler to test before we put the "Pipe" on it... With the way it pulls now we can hardly wait to get it pulling the Quickdraw.

I was also surprised that the engine seems to be as smooth as the 270. I will be checking some VBar logs and comparing it to the 270 to see if we can ascertain that with some more analytical data.

More news and development to come....

Pretty impressive for a gas motor! Will it be mass produced? What price range?

What is the gear ratio and temp out side for the vid? Nice video!

Setup is everything, All my heli's can fly far better than I can pilot them

Gear ratio is 6.89 or 13,435 RPM.
Ambient temp was about 50 degrees.

Yes Alan wants to produce the engine once he is sure its reliable. I have no idea about the cost. Im sure with the stroked rod and additional porting it will be higher than a non stroked engine.
But Alan is the only one that can say for sure.
