I just got one as well. The only upgrades it has on it is the motor, esc, tail servo, and carbon frame stiffeners. They all came from dylan at astroiddesigns. In fact, this is his prototype helicopter. Here is a video of him flying it on a flat 74% curve.

2nd main shaft break for me! Not sure I can ever trust this thing...the main frame seems to be extremely weak.

1st heli had: Astroid cf braces, Tarot Pro thrust tail, loc tite modded motor and Blade cf mains running 100% throttle curve.

2nd heli: exact same setup but running woodies at 75% throttle curve. This heli was with the new main shafts sent to me direct by Horizon!

I was going to get rid of both of my airframes when I decided to give it one more shot. Ordered two Lynx cf frame stiffeners. These buttress the whole frame unlike the Astroid that only reinforce the top frame.

We shall see. If it wasn't for these crazy main shaft breaks IN FLIGHT, I would really like this heli!

That is very interesting. I'm flying mine bone stock - no braces, no nothing. I just crashed it the other day, pretty hard (drove it into the ground inverted) and nothing broke but the canopy and blades! All I had to do is straighten the blade axle and mainshaft on my lathe and off I went good as new.

This little machine is so light it takes abuse well. At least that's my take on it.

Got mine used with some upgrades already installed. The main issue I had was with the tail servo, the mounting tabs broke in flight so I had not tail control.

I would recommend changing out all of the stock servos to higher quality servos. Since I did this the heli is rock solid with no issues. Handles well in moderate wind for such a small heli.

Minus:

Somewhat hard to see if you fly it high and far
Some part are small, can be difficult when replacing parts.
Stock servos need to be replaced

Pluses:

Very stable for a small heli
Part cost is really inexpensive, I can practice, crash, practice.

Back in the day I would've agreed with you about eFlight servos but I haven't had the slightest problem with the stock servos on this machine. I haven't got tons of time on it but I crashed it hard and have probably 50 flights and the servos are still tight and working great.

I just don't see the need to change them out.

300x!!!! 250 is a maintenance hog. It's a great heli but spins at 4500 rpm. Parts wear out quick! It's a screamer and a lot of fun, but, I've spent more time troubleshooting them versus flying them. 300x is not perfect but it is much more damage resistant during crashes and seems to fly better in the long term....

Sorry if you think this is trolling, I came to check out how the MCPX BL's were doing and couldn't help myself.

Do you know why some people praise the 300X?, because A. people new to the hobby buy them so don't know the difference. B. It has a BeastX FBL unit (which is the best FBL unit period in my eyes) masking just how horrible of a heli it is.

Sorry guys its true.

Just a note, they're NOT Eflite helicopters. They're Blade.
Same, same...

Are you still using the same factories and manufacturing processes over in China? Yup. Bottom line to the end consumer is, regardless of some name, they still have problems out of the box anyway. The 130X was a tail vibing disaster on release and the AS3X boards were flaky with many, many people having binding and/or initializing issues. In fact, there was a massive poll/thread on another forum just about that very issue and it went on for many pages. The original mCPX had problems, as mine did, with throwing grips and blades because of bad bearings and/or improper head assembly. mSRX and nCPX motors burn out prematurely all the time. The stock ESCs, especially on the 450X, are iffy at best and I won't even delve into the 550X stock ESC issue when it was released. The stock motors in the 300X, 4503D and 450X are self-destructing garbage and you all know it there. And, every heli I mentioned is a BLADE heli...with marginal/failing E-flite motors and ESCs on them...

So, E-flite versus Blade? Tomato, tomaaahto...

I'm no big Blade fan but to infer they are all junk is just wrong. Yes, there have been, and still are, problems with many eflight products but Horizon's customer service is second to none.

As far as the 300 "being a "horrible helicopter" - nothing could be further from the truth. For its price and it's intended purpose it is a WONDERFUL little machine. And to say only people who don't know better buy them is also very wrong. I've been flying RC helis for many many years and I highly recommend the 300x.

This thing is driving me bonkers
I have had a rough restart at getting into helis again.
I bought a 300x to start playing around with helis again after a 3 year break.
Heres my disaster that needs major help.
last thursday first flight hovered in back yard all went good.
yesterday second pack thing flew awesome was tickled pink at how well it flew for such a little heli
third pack I am giddy as a kid in a candy store this thing is rockin
Fourth pack spooled up in normal mode brought it up to about 6 feet and put it in idle up and wham motor is revving up and rotor blades are slowing down it feel to the ground and smashed the canopy and broke the skids.
Ends up being a broken main shaft right at the lower bolt
So I contacted HH they are sending me a new main shaft canopy and skid and a main gear hub cause it ground on it a bit inside.
So me wanting to still fly I ran to LHS and bought a pack of main shafts.
I repaired the skids and put it all back together. Rechecking everything to make sure there are no other bent parts and rebalancing everything again.
Took it back to school to try it again. Spooled it up in normal mode and brought it up to my normal 6 ft and put it in idle up. Things were going good. Took off inverted backward then all of a sudden the blades went terribly out of track. Brought it back to normal mode blades were fine. so I put it back in idle up and just hovered it. as soon as it hit the set 75% rpm it went out again big time.
So I took it back home and checked everything again regreased all thrust bearings oiled bearings and checked it all out.
today I finished it all up took it out again and all went till I tossed a fresh pack it in. It worked fine in normal mode but idle up goes way out of track and vibrates the heli like crazy.
Do any of you have any ideas as to what could be wrong? HH wants me to send it in and it sucks cause I have only had the thing for 5 days and 6 packs through it.
Anyone help me not need to send it in.
Thanks in advance
Jason

Three things I can think of.

The feathering spindle is bent but you checked every thing for straightness.

Blades are out of track.

Head dampners are bad. This can cause the blades to flutter real bad on the 300x.

thanks.
I tracked the blades a couple times. in normal they are perfectly tracked. in idle up it flutters so fast that I have to switch it out of idle up quickly before it falls to the ground
I havent tried dampers yet and will change spindle just for the heck of it.
