Those two look sweet. I really like your motor esc combos. I assume those both have stock 11t pinon. I also see that 115 tails work with 690's will the 115 and 716 work two? I would also really like to know what head speed your running.I have a 3D heli, I don't understand why it doesn't do 3D.

Well, at least you will get a chance to fly. Here in NY it is snowing hard with 8-16" on the way. No flying weather in site! - Kris

What is really ironic is that I was going to fly to NY to work tomorrow but due to the weather there I get to stay home and fly. I would still like to hear about other set ups. I see there is an 800 set up thread that I will watch. I will be posting pictures when I get the first flight in.I have a 3D heli, I don't understand why it doesn't do 3D.

All good in your setup.
I however think that the 4035 560 will be ok for a start but it is frankly a bit weak on such a machine.
If you do hover and big air it will be ok, but if you need some punch it will not be enough, particularly with 716.
I swapped mine with the 4525 520 in my ballistic and it is another planet.

Is it me or this time the ground was higher than last time??

715's and 115's fit fine. However, if you're going to be up in the rpm range you posted, you don't really need 115 tails, 110's work well. I run 1180/1600/1850 and use 115's on the tail because the 110's were borderline at 1600, but good at around 1650 or above. At the higher ranges you posted the 110's will be fine, actually better than 115's as your gains will be higher and you'll have more room for gain adjustments before oscillations.Gary Wright

Thanks guys all good points. I went with the 116's since I was going with the bigger blades. I have some 106's I will try those later. I also have some CY FBL blades does any one know how they fly, compaired to the Radix V2's? I will be trying a 5035-500 next, but the 560 is in there now. I am ready for madien tomorrow. I keep getting distracted by my MCPX BLS.I have a 3D heli, I don't understand why it doesn't do 3D.

I have tried Radix 690, Edge 693, and Edge 713 blades. I like the Edge 693 blades best. The 713 blades fly well but I really notice the shorter flight times. Swinging longer blades really eats up the battery much faster and I could not see any benefit in performance. For 3D the 693 blades felt the most nimble.

raptor setup
my setup

Raptor E720
scorpion 4525-520
vbar mini
protek 230t
mks hv tail
CC160 h esc
gryphon bec hv
rail 696
rail 116

Here is a pic of mine. Still working on it but sweet

In this pic.I had to but some spacers and longer screws to fit the motor to the heli because when the Scorpion 4525-520 sits on the motor mount, the pinion only hits half the main gear. (not good)
So I went to Ace Hardware and bought these spacers to raise the motor. Worked really well

I don't use spacers on mine if you mount it normally and flip the pinion and sit it on the pinion support it lines up perfect on the gear.

just have to install pinion upside down, should be no reason for spacers etc......Once upon a time there were Nitros, flybars and frequency pins...

The pinion support has to be in the lower set of holes and it lines up.
