My first post, cool.

After a fifteen year layoff I've returned to heli flying. Spent the better part of a year flying micros, FP then CP, and picked up a 450 plus DFC RTF on the used market. New but open box deal.

I'm having a problem routing the wiring to the battery pack, and although the electronic components are shown in the manual, the wiring is omitted. No matter which way I install the pack, the wire connections are clunky and interfere with the canopy fit.

Can another DFC owner shoot me a pic of the battery correctly installed and connected? Either my ESC is incorrectly installed or the wires are not run correctly, but I'm flying sans canopy which is....well....it's just weird.

i cut a hole in the canpoy at the bottom front corner to bring the battery wires through. that way you can plug it in with the canopy on

What connectors are you using? Here's an old pic, Im using the dfc canopy now. It is a tight squeeze.

I've now moved the esc so the battery leads stick out from between the batt tray and servos. I'll post a pic later.

Ah, interesting pic. Thank you. The connectors are stock; what was included with the RTF model. My ESC wire/connector exits the frame near the swashplate, yours exits near the bottom. Trying to mount my battery with the wires connected at the top makes a wire bundle that obscures the mounting of the canopy.
Perhaps my ESC is mounted incorrectly? Supposedly it was factory-built.

Mine is a v1 slowly converted to dfc. I now use a dfc canopy. When I changed escs, I routed the leads out of the top by the servos. This did make the wires bunch up like yours. I use the velcro to hold down the wire from the lipo. Then I curve it back up to the connector.

This old photo is to show how I hold down the lipo wire. I'll post a pic of the current configuration when I get home.

I tried inverting the battery pack so the wire was exiting the pack towards the front/bottom, but the wire is so tight it tends to pull the pack off-center. The canopy did fit better though.

If the wires from the ESC can be routed through the lower frame, than perhaps I can get at the connector with the canopy on, as Nappy suggested. Or, extend the wires from the ESC to make the pack installation neater.

For a factory setup, it just seems odd to have to go through so much effort to get the pack installed. Something must be amiss....

Maybe the pic can explain it better.

Out the front is easier like in my old pic. My new esc motor leads were short so I had to have the esc lipo leads stick out of the top. I velcro the lipo leads down, then bend them back towards the swash. I've never had luck with the lipo wires toward the front. The canopy is too pointy.

Hope this helps.

I just realized you said "dfc plus" My suggestion is the same really. Velcro is your friend.

Your installation looks similar to mine, and if the velcro was replaced with a longer piece, I could try that routing. The wires on my battery pack are not as flexible as those on the ESC, but they will follow that example.

It does make swapping packs a bit of a project.

Thank you for the photos, they helped!
