New heli, maiden flight = Almost a rekit ..All electronics, lipos,ONE frame side and gear train/head made it.O,the electronics and canopy also made it,everything else is TOAST..
Once I got it in the house and took the canopy off, seen the servo wire just hanging <---Forgot to hot glue my servo plugs so they didn't come out ..Did have just enough to buy frame sides but the rest will have to wait 2-3 months..Not sure why in the hell I put it in idleup-3 but wish I didn't,2450RPM KILLED it ..
I honestly didn't wanna post this but IMO,its a good reminder to HOT GLUE ALL servo/power plugs going into the RX,FBL system ect... Live and learn...

Don't mean to be harsh but that looked like pilot error to me. So sorry about the crash. Just seemed like everything was fine just got a little to low.

Are you saying you crashed because of the servo leads comming out? Just curious, not doubting just couldn't tell from your post. That sucks.

I flew for years before I learned to glue the leads. I always consider the glue an added safety feature. I always expected the servos to stay connected on their own. I have been using that shoe goop stuff and it dries quick and holds great. I'm wondering if I should rely on the glue more than I have been.

Oh...I don't know. That didn't look like something Lon would do. Didn't look like anything he wasn't quite capable of.

Sorry for the setback Lon, you'll be back.

504Rone,
Headspeed wasn't the issue..My servo plugs weren't even snug when I plugged them in so it would of happend ever with a low headspeed.I finished the whole setup last night and stayed up a little too late, went to bed and planned on hot gluing the plugs and putting the mains on today..After we got home,it was getting late so wanted to hurry and do the maiden but forgot to hot glue the plugs..

OICU812,
Yeah it has ALOT of power and I mean ALOT,WAY more than my old 12S 600E by far.Has a Quantum 4125-560KV motor and she rips..

Your not harsh, just guessing/clueless..Ive posted a bunch of crashes and ALWAYS admited it was me when it was..Anyone thats seen me fly knows im not crashing doing a stupid flip..When it happend,I still had the cyclic stick pulled ALL the way back and you can see the heli flip out nose down..If it was me I would say it was...

AerialSkyCam,
Yup,WAS excited LOL..

AWittleWabbit,
Ain't that the truth..

Thanks guys and yes,i'll get it back in the air soon..Its winter so once we move into our new home and put some $$ away,i'll for sure have it fixed before spring..Just from the 30secs of airtime,I already know its going to be ALOT of fun to fly...
Well I guess its broke-in now LOL...

Yup,servo wire come out and others were about to fall out..Ive never had to hot-glue the wires because all my plugs always fit nice and tight..The plugs on these servos were pretty loose but forgot to hot glue them..

BobOD,
Yeah, that for sure wasn't me and anyone thats seen me fly know im not going in like that..I never get mad when "I" crash but when something like this happens,my head turns red ..

Im going to clear the whole pilot error crap up in 5mins...

Just getting into the hobby and would like to learn from as many mistakes from other people as I can so I can hopefully reduce the number of impacts on my bird. I've never heard of hot glueing the connectors to the RX before. Do you just use one bead along the tops of all the connectors? My main concern would be that it would be quite hard to remove them in the future. Do you find it removes easy once it dries?

pjones,

Generally with Shoe Goo, Goop or Hot glue, when it comes time to remove it, the whole bead just pulls off. It does not leave residue or anything behind. You get it started with a razor or xacto knife, and then you can just rip it the rest of the way off with your fingers.

Very cheap insurance to prevent plugs from coming undone, I do it on all my machines.

pjones,
When you do the sho goo thing you put it on the top of the plugs and also on the top of the receiver. Be sure to catch both the plug and the top corner of the receiver. Catching the top corner of the receiver anchors the plugs to the receiver.

Lon,
If I were you, I would open that case up and look things over. Or, just send it in to have it checked.
All the errors there are sensor errors. Although it may be possible that a servo wire pulled out and the sensor errors were a result of the crash, I'm just a little worried for you that you may have a gremlin in there.

I'll ask Mr.Mel and see what he says.I really don't see it being anything else because as soon as I pulled the canopy, one servo wire was hanging next to the frame and 2 others were about to fall out of the box..Thats why the servos were unplugged in the last video, just touched them and they fell out...I'll see what Mr.Mel says about the log and i'll get the PDF file in a bit...

Why have they never addressed this issue? Do they still sell that current v-bar? Servo leads will fall out with very little movement.

After a near miss with one of my v-bars I also started using shoe-goo. I use it on my beast even though the plugs are very tight.

Sorry for the crash! It's a tough hobby to be in when funds are limited.
