I will be picking up my Blade 450 3d on Monday. I have read a lot of bad press on the gyro that comes on this heli. Tail drift, spinning out of control, tail wag. I have some concerns, and wondered if i can install a futaba 240 gyro. This gyro is older and I am wondering if it will work with the new digital servos, or if that doesn't matter at all. I have a lot of confidence in the 240. It has been used in my raptor with no issues. the servos in the raptor are analog. I am purchasing the gy520 for the raptor, so I'll have the 240 available. Maybe I'm worrying about nothing and the press on the mems eflight gyro is just a fact of people not knowing how to set it up properly. Would love some feedback from Blade owners who have flown with the stock gyro. Thanks

-Bill

that gyro will work fine. Always run a quality gyro in your heli. Its a must. Futaba's have always been reliable plug-n-play gyros. I'll never switch to anything else.

I would recommend you try the eflite gyro first. The older ones sucked but I've flown the 450 3D and that gyro works well. If anything swap the tail servo for a stronger more accurate tail servo and a thicker tail control rod that doesn't flex.

why start swapping out stuff before you have even test hovered the heli?

I would fly it stock first and see what happens. If the tail doesn't hold for your style of flying then maybe consider a new gyro, but you may be pleasantly surprised.

There was a blade 450 3D at our clubs field with literally HUNDREDS of flights without a single issue what so ever. The heli was completely stock, including the stock gyro, which has no problems. Fly the heli stock, no need to switch it out.

Fly it like your stole it!!!!!
