Sometimes I miss flybar,
Reasons, electronic bugs
A mechanical setup ( flybar) no worries
Yeh! I know the action is way better,
But I had a few issues with my flybarless last season that almost took the life of my diabolo 6 times.
That many times of trying to track it down has it being a hanger queen it seams,
Resetting midflight sucks.
One of the last times it reset , was inverted 60' in the air, and it went full collective toward the ground with no responce till about 10', scared the crap out of me. This was in July, and afterward , it sat a while, then I added another wire to the kontronics HV80 , no problems with my last flight. But still, trust has been gone!

Understandable Tony.

FB relies on mechanical. FBL relies on electrical.

Having a helicopter in an uncontrollable full negative pitch would cause any pilot to ponder.

I have both FB and FBL. I always have an extra sense of security when flying FB.

From what I can find, it looks like it is belt drive. I have had experiences where static electricity has interfered with a fbl unit on my 600. As soon as I converted it back to TT, the problem went away and haven't had a issue since. I know on Logo's, people do a grounding mod to keep the static electricity from building up.

Tony,

I am flying the same setup.

Here's what I noticed: if you have a bind at full colletive and some cyclic the VBar throws a fit and "may react" like a reset, but is back quickly. This is not power related, the VBar does not like it when servos jam against a physical limit.

I noticed other FBL units do not get that reaction when any of the cyclic servos hit a stop

Power:
I am using 2 lines to power the RX+Vbar (5.3V setup), master and slave from the Jive to 2 open ports on the FASST receiver. The 2 lines gives me twice the amps to the systesm bus (you know that but some readers may not). I also have a buffer battery pack (low IR) in parallel with the Jive slave channel.

Using BLS253 servos with 18.5mm arms, not taxing on power, Jlog shows feeding about 3 average and up to 6amps under no biding. I bet you a stalled/bind servo could kick it up 9A easy, that's when the buffer pack kicks in to get you out of trouble.

BTW, one wire from the Jive is not enough juice to power the FBL system and 4 digital servos.

Thats the reason my setup ^^^ may seem overkill...

also, my boom is grounded per Gerd instructions, no issues with static.

The way the diabolo is built and as long as you sand down the carbon where it connects to the sanded boom, then the belt is grounded,

Thanks y'all for all the feed back.
I will be going through the whole setup,
Changing esc to a HV 16s setup, a hot to trot modded xera 4530. A new radio for the sbus setup,
And soon this heli will be FAST
Speed runs. Yeh!
