I see that the Vortex is ready 8 Feb 2013. http://www.spartanrc.com/store/prod...at=0&featured=Y

How do we get that category added to this forum?

I see that the total cost (USD) will be $394.73. Don’t forget that you have to order the Data Pod in order to set it up.

Has anyone seen it advertised in any US stores?

It is not price competitive.

And as we have seen with Futaba, a good tail gyro manufacture does not does not translate into a good flybarless unit.

I still don't understand why they are putting the sensors in a separate container. Unless, it's deemed easier to replace them if they should go..... bad?

450 bucks is a bit high. It doesn't have bailout to justify that price. It is now the most expensive non-bailout flybarless on the market. It is going to be very hard for them to justify that price, even if the unit performs awesome. Without the bailout option, they are competing with proven, top notch units in the Vbar, Beast, skookum, and other units that perform awesome at significantly lower prices. I'll wait till they are selling at less than 200 bucks in the classifieds to try one!

I suspect you have converted the pound sterling RRP which by law must be presented including VAT (20% sales tax). This is applicable to EU countries only. The RRP in USA is a lot lower than your estimate but I can't mention it here due to RunRyder rules. But it's not too dissimilar from other high end FBL systems.

i've always liked the idea of separate sensors as that part is very small and it give you more places to find a more vib free place to mount it not that the Vortex needs it, any FBL unit will work better with less vibs.......
