If you do not insure a package, you are OUT OF LUCK if lost in transit. I was told by the Gilbert Arizona Post Master, the package that was tracked to be delivered, is missing and the post office will do nothing about it! I would have, had to buy insurance for it to be covered by their own loss and on top of the additional cost, it could take up to 180 days to collect! I will NEVER ship or have ANYTHING shipped by USPS! This is the only company I have ever paid for a service, and was told by the same company, it is not responsible for their actions or losses!!!

Hey, with service like that, they should raise their rates.

Oh they are in a few days!

Good luck to them…

The only problem I had was the mail man on my delivery end. I checked tracking and it said delivered. BS not to me. I figured he dropped if off at the wrong house. I called our local post office told the lady call the delivery man, and had him come and show me where he left it. It was about three houses up the road.

I've had different items, an OS91HZ and a Futaba 8U TX, get lost in transit by the USPS. Both were shipped Priority with tracking and insurance.....both eventually showed up. The TX took about 10 weeks and the motor 8 weeks. I know the motor sat on a shelf at my destination post office most all that time. I know my delivery man well and he's the one who found it collecting dust on the shelf.

I try to never tell what's in the package, or ship something with a picture of the contents on the outside of the box. If so your asking for it to not get to you, or buyer. Postal Workers & Warehouse workers are sometimes crooks to. Don't give them more info than then need.

Is there really a safe way to ship without insurance? I think you pay your $$ and take the chance with any of them!

After loosing $300.00 in lipos thanks to USPS on top of them loosing crap MANY times,I NEVER ship without insurance anymore and don't use them if I can help it..
Also,
When shipping big packages, hands down use UPS..Its ALOT cheaper with big boxes and if something gets damaged or lost, they stand by the insurance claim 100%.UPS never lost a package out of over 100 shipped but 3 of them got damaged.Ended up getting every cent back with in 2-3 weeks.

I know it sucks as its happend to me but ya can't be mad if something gets lost and ya don't have insurance..A few dollars to cover a few hundred dollars is MORE than worth it when crap gos wrong...

USPS doesn't care. They don't have to compete with anyone.

Not profitable?

Tax payers bail you out over and over and over again.

I've said this over and over on my frog forum, some guy shipped frogs overnight through USPS and they arrived like 7 days later. Luckily they were still alive.

The USPS, IMO, are a bunch of useless people just who just wanted a federal job to milk the system. It's no wonder why the post office is going bankrupt. Our particular carrier is the laziest woman I've ever seen and forget about going into the local office.

What a joke

Knock on WOOD
Let me knock on wood because I have not yet experienced what any of you guys mentioned. The closest I have gotten was when I shipped some blades using parcel post. The blades were in limbo for about a month before they arrived. The receipt said delivery within 7 days but it sure as hell was not guaranteed.

It's a crap shoot no matter who you use. Many hundreds, thousands of packages each day some crisscrossing the states. Some of them have to go missing.

USPS
I have the same sad story of continual poor performance of our postal system. I bought a heli and batteries from someone here. He shipped 2 packages on the same day from and to the same place. One package went to NJ, the other to Atlanta, then Memphis, then sat in St Louis. They both came to my residence in Ky about 10 days later. The same shipment from that area via UPS or FedEx takes 2, and at the most 3 days. When I ask I get the same kind of answers as the others on this thread report. They just don't care and aren't held accountable! Looks like we need to privatize the PO. Perhaps FedEx ,DHL, or UPS could buy them and straighten this out!

Service from the USPS is about on par with the DMV. Neither care about customer service and it's clear none of the employees ever have to deal with customer satisfaction surveys.

I never had any problems or loss with USPS but it looks like they won't be around much longer anyway. When your losing 25 million per day and your credit it maxed out how long can you stay afloat.

I've actually had the best success with USPS. It's the other shipping companies that I fear...
