Pun intended. OK so which bearing company does everyone prefer? Do you go with the stock bearings that your particular helicopter uses and sells or do you go aftermarket like Boca. If you go aftermarket, which comapany and type (SS, ceramic, etc. I'm just talking helicopter bearings here. Not engine bearings.

My general plan has been to go with Boca and go with higher specs on the bearings than the AF1 that is usually stock. I have used both steel and ceramic in different locations, and usually with a minimum of AF3 specs.

I will add one piece of advice, and that comes from talking with the folks at Innovative on the Scorpion 4525 motors. I was told not to go with ceramic bearings, because if a ball breaks, it will destroy the bearing and the motor before it gives any warning. SS AF5 or 7 there. At least when they go bad, they will give some advance warning.

I used to think that replacing bearings was important and the stockers were crap.

It's amazing how things hold up when you stop crashing.

Clean, tri-flo, fly 10 times and repeat. My stock bearings have lasted a long time.

Now Align bearings on the electrics leave something to be desired. But the premium birds like Logo, Compass, SAB, CYE, and Synergy are good.

My suggestion is to measure them up with a dial caliper and order them from a distributor that sells bearings to everyone, not just some little hack operation that only sells garbage to the r/c enthusiast.

I dont want to mention names but one of them starts with an "R" and ends with "bearings" .com and the other starts with a "B" and ends with "bearings" .com Worst products I have ever seen in my life, especially the engine bearings.

Hmmm. Very interesting. I used to run Boca's back in the day racing R/C buggies and never had an issue with them and I'm currently running some SS in my OS 50 with no issues. That's why I was wondering on which heli bearings everyone goes with. I agree with the other two that were mentioned. Who else has any reccomendations?

Rcbearings.com have some excellent offerings. VXB is also another fantastic choice. If you're all about go hard or go home then Boca all the way. Depending what kit you're looking at changing up a top grade bearing certainly can make a difference.

Also everyone should own "the greaser" man what a usefull gadget!!

I tend to agree. Maybe there are some kits that Boca sells that are better than others, but for the most part I havent had any better luck with any of them over the stocks. In fact, all of my Align birds run stock bearings, and I went through all kinds of trials with my OS55 and RCBearings. Those bearings were junk, and I tried every single type of bearing they sell for that engine. I was anxious also to try the 130X kit that Boca sells, and the rear bearings in the tail developed excessive slop, and the small torque tube bearings fell to pieces. I'm back to running stocks for alot less money and better longevity.

If you really wank to get good bearings, get out of China and find some good quality bearings...NSK, or German made bearings. Its too hard to tell where alot of these unbranded bearings really come from. Cheap substandard metals = Junk.

Ban the Ban.
