Depending

On older futabas they had just pwm sum signal in.

If you want complex things like allowing the teached to use switches you might end up at identical radios and programs.

you must match brand radio - JR and Spektrum are compatible with each other.

Setup between the two radio depends on the radios. Always test it on the ground to make sure the controls are moving the correct direction.

I've done buddy boxing before and had good results with Spektrum and JR gear, Airtronics, Futaba with fixed wing and heli's.

You can purchase a cord that will alow you to use JR with futaba but no switches controlled by buddy only master . I wouldn't recommend letting buddy use switches anyways because of complicated setup and when trainer switch is toggled there could be different settings and make it harder to correct for master.

I stole it ,flew it and gave it back ;)
