Can't comment about the comparison to other brands as I don't have enough experience with it yet, but no you do not have to have a Futaba receiver. The CGY-750 uses an s.bus input (1 cable inputs all channels). Without a Futaba receiver, you will have to use an S.Bus PWM Adapter [url=http://www3.towerhobbies.com/cgi-bin/wti0001p?&I=LXBDXZ&P=7] which connects to any PWM receivers servo connectors and outputs s.bus data.

yay a new Wichita guy

Get the vbar and I will help you set it up. I guarantee much happiness and joy flying it.

Get the CGY and Ill cry alot while trying to help you set it up and we will spend countless hours together trying to figure out how to tune it. (alright 1.3 is supposedly better)

but seriously most people around here fly vbar because it is easy to setup and just works. I can help you with either as I have both. 10+ vbars all on birds flying great, 2 cgy750's (1.2) on the bench because I got tired of trying to get them to fly right. 1.3 is out and should be better but I haven't got to test it yet.

I have to tread lightly here or I will be pinked. Do a search here for 1.30/31 firmware and problems and ease of set up. I suspect you will find a distinct difference between earlier versions and 1.3/31 .

The 1.31 firmware is leaps and bounds ahead of the 1.2 firmware.

Just using default settings, your helicopter will feel completely different than with 1.2.

I did a complete basic bench setup in about 20-30 minutes the other week, including setting servo horns to 90, leveling swash, etc.

Follow the 1.3 tuning guide, and you'll have a great flying machine.

I helped my friend to set up his brand new Diabolo in less than half an hour. The maiden flights ended with zero issue and happiness in his face. He uses Jive for BEC and governor.

A good read on the tuning guide of v 1.3, few basic set up and you are ready to go.

Yes, a Futaba Tx and a S-bus receiver is a good combo with it. No PC, no readout display to bring. Just take out the canopy for adjustment.

hes got a dx8, wouldn't make logical sense to get the CGY.

next version make it satellite compatible like every other flybarless on the market and you will sell more.

The 8fg and cgy is a nice combination on how all the numbers match up.
