No the other way
You decide what headspeed you want to run and program into the governor and it will get it there for you. Then you turn off the governor with the radio (on/off line from the gv-1) and adjust the curves so that they match the speeds you're running or are just a little slower better than faster.

The gear ratio for the 1005 is 6.43.

just to add confusement i have just bought a dx8 so the set up is a little difficult ,the dx does not seem to be talking ,but i have just learnt i had to turn the values on transiter from 0 to 100
+ and - thanks for the ratio thats thats one sorted.but what head speed would be appriate? i always ran the 105 with a low head speed and it flew a dream. also do i have to set up a switch on and off and on and off via the throttle stick at + 15 % for turn on ??? i have read the manual ,but its not abc it seems to jump from one to another ,,,or might be me lol, what do you mean by curves?/

many regards
steve

adjust your throttle curves in normal and idle up 1&2 so the head speed is slightly slower than what u want to run it with the governor. this is because in case the governor fails the throttle control will revert back to your throttle curves. and if they are set too high you will blow up your engine.R I P Roman Jr. Team SKOOKUM SRW EFC

also if you do a search for gasser settings for gv1 u can find a video on you tube on how to change some settings so it will control a gasoline engine better. the gv1 is set default for nitro engines.R I P Roman Jr. Team SKOOKUM SRW EFC

Also
Do a search here on "rbort" and "gv1" and read the document on how to setup the gv1.

Should help you a lot.
