I would suggest the align 600 mx 1220 motor and the Castle Creation 100A ESC. A Kontronik 80 A ESC is also a good choice if you can find a good one used. I have one that is 5 years old and going strong. I also have the CC 100A ESC in a scale 600 on 6s with no problems.

Thanks, can you use the same main gear and what pinion do you recommend ?
Also, I have some old TP 6S 5000 MA batteries those will be OK or do you recommend to buy new ones ?

I have changed my 600 over to the new hub and 112 main gear and use a 11T pinion. If the paks are not badly puffed and they will last for 5 minutes of flight time and the end voltage is above 22.3 then I would use them.

also agree the 1220 kv motor works great and has a lot of power..
I have three of these in various scale machines and all are solid as a rock...esc's stay cool (80hv castles) and batteries...The upgraded gearing is also better.. KDE hub and gears are very strong!! will handle 700-800 stuff.

Well the math does work out that it will work. Using a 6s setup with a 80 or 85 amp esc will be a bad thing if you plan on doing any real flying. The 80 amp may work on a 12s setup, but not on a 6s. A 6s draws more amps than a 12s setup. Typically for 600's with a 6s, a 100a ESC is recommended.

+1 on getting the Align 600MX 1220KV and Kontronik 80A or CC ICE 100A ..The Kontronik 80 would be the BEST ESC if you have the $$ but the CC ICE 100 works well also..

Solmanbandit,
Seems you don't know this but a good 80A ESC is more than enough for a 6S 6600/550 setup and MANY have used the Kontronik 80A on 600/550 size helis for a LONG time running 6S.Ive had and seen many CC ICE 100 ESC's burn up and fail on 6S but never seen a Kontronik 80A ESC fail or burn up on 6S.
This is a Kontronik 80A ESC and Align 600MX 1220KV motor..

Looking at the logs for as long as I have been flying my 600 flying with a 6s shows that a 80a would be insufficient. Kontronik may be able to handle it, but is it really the right size? Either way, you may think otherwise and that is fine, but logs show me a different picture. As for a 550, I couldn't say because I don't have one, but would suspect less of a draw due to swinging smaller blades.

All ESC's aren't made the same which means the Castle log won't be the same as a Kontronik log.Know what im saying?
The Castle gov won't allow XXXX headspeed where Kontronik allows XXXX amount more headsped..
Do you really think a 100A hobby king ESC will handle hard flying?I hope you say no because they don't..Every ESC is made different and even some 100A esc's won't handle "sport flying" without going up in flames..
The Kontronik 80A will handle hard flying MUCH better vs the CC ICE 100...
Do a search and see how many CC ICE 100's vs Kontronik went up in flames on 6S 600 size helis..You'll find MANY CC ICE100's burned up but the chances of finding a Kontronik 80A is slim to none ...
They make a 100A Kontronik but the 80A Kontronik is better than the CC ICE100 all day long...

Thanks for the response, my last question was related more what parts I need to change for going from the old standard 170t main gear (the one used for the old 650xL motor) to the 112t, and what pinion are you using in conjunction with the 112t.

Standard pinion in the new 600 EFL kits with the 112 slant main gear is a 13 tooth slant pinion. That is just the stock size for the newer EFL which I think is designed for higher headspeeds than the old 600. I have an EFL but don't have any experience with the older model besides flying a buddy's 600e a few times. What kv is the motor you are going to use?

I have an old TRex not the EFL, My question was about what parts I need to install the new 600 MX 1220 KV into the old frame, I saw on the spacs that the old XL motor has different arrangements for the bolts than the MX motor, what I'm trying to do is upgrade my old Trex to the new 600 MX 1220 KV and from the old 170t into the 112t gear. I'm not sure what parts to buy to do this upgrade.

If you are going to the newer 112 T main in the old 600 CF frame you will need to change the auto rotation gear as well----call Ron Lund South and speak to Ron---he will know the auto rotation gear you will need----the 600MX motor is a direct replacement to the original 600 motor but with the 112 T main gear you will want a matching 11-12T pinion----your original pinion will not match the 112 T gear. I use the 11T pinion which is listed in the 550DFC parts section---again talk to Ron----I found the 12 T has too much HS and the ESC operates out of it's normal zone being down in the 65-70% range.
Remember that I use 550 blades to keep the heat down in the battery paks.

The 600 mx 1220 is a improved align motor that has a fan to aid in the air flow and it works well. One thing I did a long time ago was to slot the motor mounting holes in the aluminum stock align motor mount----with a washer under the motor mount bolt I have not had any problems with the motor moving. The new gear/pinion has a different sound that you have to get used to over the old 170 gear. The new 112 gear will need the new 6 hole main gear to main shaft bearing mount as well as the new OWB.

Just so you know, all you'll need is the motor and 16T pinion for gov mode or 14T pinion for throttle curves..You don't "need" to change the pinion/main gear and you'll never strip the stock 170T main gear with the 600MX 1220KV motor..Just buy the motor,16T pinion for gov mode or 14T for throttle curves and fly..Thats all you need because the motor doesn't make enough power to strip the 170T main gear....

Thanks for the response, the I don't need any part to fit the 600MX into the old Trex 600?
The other question is do I need to replace the old ESC, I had the original Align that came with the kit, I don't remember the max current, 65 Amp ?
What is governor or curve mode on the ESC ?
