Trex600N -looking for newer designed Heli- electric candidates so far...
Well I have enjoyed and still do my Trex600N pro. But its an old design now. I can guess Ive had this heli for over 6 years, maybe longer. It has served me well, but like any helicopter, once its out there, and has a great following, the V2, V3 dont really make any drastic changes.

Is the design so good that there is no reason to change it? No

Balance and short links to the head improve handling and response/control. Not exactly things the Trex's have going.

If you were to get into the hobby today, with experience flying 3d and otherwise, what is YOUR best pic?

Ive got a Protos (500 electric) its OK but not stellar and again, older design now-- outdated???

I am not totally against electric, but had been concentrating on Nitro replacement. First thought was Outrage 50V2 Read up on it, think its not for me. Has too many iffy and problem areas.

MA Whiplash.... heavier that some, solid machine, latest in design, where it makes a difference? not sure.

Sab (and why I started this post)
Seems to have a lock on newest design features (listed above) and so far looks promising. They have been out a while not and are still widely popular.

As electrics go the MSH protos was a standout, but this was years ago. The Goblin 500 is coming out now. I like the look, the CF body is unique in the industry, so far. I do not mind spending an extra 2 hundred for this heli considering its really the better way to go. While its more expensive to replace (dont know the cost of the tail section) its probably stronger, truer, stiffer and the better way to go.

The layout: As good as any I have seen. I would say any machine with the servos inline and close to the head is an improvement in design. You see more of this design now with the newer helis.
I dont really know what Nitro helicopter I would want that is a big enough improvement over my current 600N. (Another reason I am again considering an electric.)

Compass? (not a fan of the over look- looks cheap. I am also aware of issues (maybe resolved now not sure)

MA Whiplash, I like the component-ing of the heli. This is very serviceable, but still pricey I think.

Gaui (sp) seems a foregn knockoff of sorts, not sure about longevity, No idea about service or parts supplu or cost.

Really what other electric competes with the Goblin?
When it first came out and I saw it fly, it is unique, had some teething issues in the drive train area, which may be resolved by now, or might have been a single case, dont know.

If I jump again into electric, what are the top two or three standouts?

How in the world did you not even mention the Mikado 600 SX?

It could be the ultimate 600 size heli on the market.

I have thought about the synergy. It has a good reputation, but again.... been out for some time. None at our field (not that that is a DECIDING factor) but it is something to consider.
