I run 3GX with two sat. only setup on several heli's including the 800 I'm building. Several around here do the same with Beast, AR7200, VBar, ect... on any size heli. no problems. just use two sat. RX's on 500+ size and make sure the antenna's are set at 90 deg to each other in the open air as much as possible.

I run only one Sat. RX on my 450 and 250 with the 3GX. No different than the AR6100 I used to use on the older ones.

I believe the beastx can only support one satellite.
I think only one satellite is not enough for any heli larger than 450.
The only way to get multiple satellites is to use a separate receiver

Took a look at the BeastX manual. It supports a single satellite receiver, and in this form, is suitable only for helis sized 450 and smaller.

It looks as if you will be required to use an external "standard" receiver with its attendant satellite if you want to fly this in a 500 or larger machine.

personally i disagree. a 500 is still pretty damn small and doesn't get too far away.

if the carbon fiber shadowing was the issue a 450 would exhibit the same "potential" glitch issue.

I say put the satellite where you feel is good and fly the hell out of it.
Who cares... its just money...

So you're flying your 500 with a single satellite? Or just recommending that someone else risk their machine and report back what happens?

A 500 has no problem carrying the full-up receiver and satellite, the receiver is relatively inexpensive. Among the various vendors selling equipment that works with the satellites, it's pretty universal among them to recommend either two satellites, or a standard RX and additional satellite for helis 500 sized and up.

Flew mine with the regular old beastx and one satellite only for a year...works fine. The 500 is not much bigger than the 450 anyways as stated above. And yea, I flew up high as I could and flew around and nooo problems.

I agree with dkshema, I use a single satelite on my 450 but the 500, a receiver with satelite. From the manual: "The use of MICROBEAST with a single Spektrum® satellite receiver is allowed only on micro or
mini helicopters (450 size helicopters) because of the limited range due to the lack of antenna
diversity!" to me, Id put the rx and satelite on and have not have to question whether it will fail.

Blax -- Your AR7200BX system with a DSMx satellite is the equivalent of running a BeastX unit WITH a separate "full function" receiver and its satellite. The AR7200BX HAS built into it, a full function Specktrum receiver. The satellite is THE SECOND receiver in your system. You can operate the AR7200BX WITHOUT a satellite in 450 size or smaller helis. In 500 size and up, run the AR7200BX with the satellite.

The microbeast, BeastX units do NOT HAVE INTERNAL RECEIVERS. Nor does the Align 3GX system.
