Holy Crap!!!
My nitro Whiplash showed up today. I opened up the parts box and i said to myself Holy Crap. The machine work on all the aluminum parts is absolutely beautiful! I was bummed i forgot to order another fuel magnet and what do you know, there is one supplied in the kit! The size of the Canomod canopy makes my Trex 700N canopy look like a 500. And it's looks so good too! Why did i wait so long MA, why? Well now i'm here.
Time to start building, please hold all my calls

They are catching on quick in our club too.

September 0
October 1 gas, 1 nitro
November +1 electric
December +1 nitro
January +1 nitro, +1 electric

From 0 to 6 in 4 months, 5 pilots.

Hopefully MA will build up the spare parts inventory, they have run out of a few critical parts a few times now.

Thank You Miniature Aircraft, i will. I don't think i'll need to though, the manual is very clean and easy to understand. Excellent job on the parts bags too!

I've always thought building was half the fun. What a treat this kit is!

Thanks everyone.

Fixed! Don’t be jealous that I had mine first! Russ decide on an Electric?

Edit: If you buy an Electric, Dont buy a Castle HV160.. Not very friendly in the cold weather..

Yes electric on it's way for Russ.

Seeing the quality, flight characteristics and availability in gas, E and N is what convinced so many pilots in our club to buy Whiplash heli's

Triple D, what issues have you had using the Castle ICE2 160HV on the electric?
@dchekas - during low ambient operation it’s difficult to keep it operating properly.. A hard pitch pump, will send the 120 into a low voltage cutout safety.. Similar to a low voltage cutout after flying a pack to long.

I can pull the heli & batteries out of my warm truck (70-75 F) put it in the air, and it cuts out. I've also flew for 2 or 3 mins before switching to idle 3 (2200 RPM - 95% CC Eff.) and still cuts. I fly mosly at 2050 RPM, at least once a flight I'll experience the LV cuts, simply reset with TH Hold and continue flying. A friend of mine has a 160 in a goblin, does the exact same thing. Was at OHB in December, flew perfectly, no issues.

Is it the overcurrent protection causing it to shut down? In that case it can be disabled. That is anyway the suggested setting for heli's if you look at the help text in the sw.arhennie

Its anyway easy to check in the log what it was. I use 120HV on my Whiplash with Scorpion 4525-520LE. It have never shut down. I have flown it for a year, both winter and summer.arhennie

Triple, I went through a very similar issue with my 160 ICE2 HV.

Turned out to be two issues in my case:

1. One set of packs I was flying had mucher higher IR than the other two sets. I would frequently trigger low voltage cut off 3-5 seconds into my flight with these packs.

2. The default 160HV ICE2 low voltage setting was set too high IMO. Default is 3.2V/Cell. I lowered mine to 3.0V/Cell (Interestingly, Castle lists 3.0V/Cell as default, but on mine, it was set to 3.2v/cell in the castle link for some reason).

With these high powered motors, I think we're getting momentary voltage sags during really demanding maneuvers (A very hard collective change, hard rainbow, etc) and falsely triggering the LVC. I'm guessing the castle software setup is geared towards the "casual" flyer, who probably isn't doing aggressive 3D, and the LVC is set high to help protect their packs in a true LV situation.

For us 3D guys, we need it a bit lower.

Since I lowered my LVC to 3.0V/Cell, I have not had a single cut off.

Hope this helps.
