Got the Hobbico Torqmaster 180 in the mail today
It will not even turn my OS105 over

I tried it with my booster pack jumper...No joy.
Tried it with a spare car battery I have in the garage...No joy.
Popped the hood on my Durango and tried with the engine running...No joy.

Stauck my old Align Super Starter in to make sure there wasn't a problem with the helis engine....It struggled but it does indeed spin the engine.

Stuck the Torqmaster back in and .....nothing.

Would my 4S pack on my Align starter be any better than my car battery for starting the heli?

Would a 5S or 6S pack work?

I use a 20 year old Robbe Super Starter that will rip the arm off of Dracula on 3s or 4s. I use a 3200 mah RFI pack and the pack will last for a month of more.

Got the Deans on the Hobbico and tried 4S....No good.

And a few seconds of trying dropped the lipo charge from 94% to 82%

That's crazy. I can turn anything over with my cheapy Hobbico Torquemaster on an 18V Makita NiMH battery using the A Finer Edge Mfg adapter.

18 volt probably makes a huge difference.

I can tell on 4S that it's just barely short of working fine.

Try using a 5 or 6s pack. I've been using my torque 90 on 5S for over two years now with no problems starting my 50 and 90 engine. 180 on 6s should start yours with no problem.

Get the finer edge adapter and a 18v makita battery on that starter and be careful you dont spin the planet backwards.

Seriously before you bump that starter setup with the 18v Makita you should always insert the shaft and spin the engine with your hand to make sure its not flooded. The first time you forget to do this and your engine is flooded you will break something.

A cheap way to achieve this is with two 7 or 8 cell stick packs. With 18 to 20v the torqmaster then lives up to its name. Just like you sir I was never impressed with a torqmaster starter on 12v power.

It sounds like its defective, so return it.

The shipping is the same if you sell it to someone. Also it sounds like you would be selling someone a defective unit, so just return it.

two things to really look at -

1. make sure you have a really good electrical connection.

2. make sure you have a strong battery.

I doubt it's the starter being a limitation. the reason the Align starter is kicking it over is it's geared. Try a 5S pack on that 180 starter. make sure you have a good hold of it
