The servos will accept 285 Hz, but DO NOT run them with more than 6V regulated with a CGY-750. Better still to keep voltage in the mid 5's.

Tried the DS8915, the 8717 equivalent outside US, with CGY750. At that moment, it was in ver 1.2.

A few minutes of hovering, the servos can burn my finger. It was powered by standard BEC of HeliJive which should be at 5.5v.

Servo was set at 285Hz.

I've logged a little over 150 flights with a set of 8717s for cyclic on a Futaba CGY750, they have never even been warm. The Elev and Ail response loop must have been set too high.

Hi

8717's get warm with a 90 sized Heli and a flybar.....

FBL will work the servos harder.

Thanks all, thanks Ben.
I'll leave 285hz, i will not run with more then 6v.
just one more question, if leave it at 140Hz has a problem?

Running a lower driving frequency than the servos will accept is not harmful but will reduce overall system performance.

Operating charactistics of certain servos with pre-1.31 version firmware should not be used as a predictor of performance with the latest release.

Different servo but same question, can I run 285Hz with the Align DS615 digital servos that came with my T-Rex 550 DFC? The spec only says they run on 1520us.

Thanks.

steph280,
You only get 3 digital options on cyclic --> 95Hz,140Hz and 285Hz....1520us is for the tail...
I use 140Hz on cyclic (Align DS610s) and 1520uson tail (Align DS650) ...

Right, only 3 options and none was 1520, that's why I was confused. 1520us is actually measurement of time, and all the Hz settings are frequency. Are the servo specs supposed to list the frame rate in Hz somewhere?

Anyway I'll give 140Hz a try. Thanks.

Yup,no 1520us for cyclics..I picked 140HZ so I get good life out of the servos and the performance is really good, well for me anyways..

I have no ideal on that..
