Cheapest remote I could use??
Was wanting to get my son a 130X and didn't want to put my JR 11X at 7 year old boy risk.

Looking for low budget ideas for remotes that will work.

Thanks for any suggestions

The Spektrum Dx6i is the least expensive transmitter that would work with the 130X.

I use a 9303 2.4 for my big heli's and a DX6I for my smaller electrics. It is a good little radio/.. Only 1 stunt mode though which doesnt bother me.Setup is everything, All my heli's can fly far better than I can pilot them

hobby king have a new Orange dsm2 Tx (ds6i clone?) that should work ok;

http://www.hobby king.com/hobby king/store/__28494__OrangeRx_T_SIX_2_4GHz_DSM2_6CH_Programmable_Transmitter_w_10_Model_Memory_Mode_2_.html

Personally I'd recommend spending a few $'s more and get a dx6i (new or used).

Cheers,

Im kinda scared of clone stuff. If it dies the whole heli could be gone and that is no savings at all.

I was just curious if anyone knew of anything cheaper.

I saw a guy with the Orange TX,,spent 70 bucks or something. He said it worked fine. I wouldnt trust one myself,,even if it didnt kill a heli first but just didnt work at all,,what to do ,,,send it to China?? Good Grief,,,,

The price is as stated 159.00 at many places. (including Horizon)
there were older versions ot the DX6i so be aware what a used one might be. (not the most current)

I just got a friend started in RC helicopters. He wanted the cheapest tx he could use, and was looking in the used sections and other places (Craigs List) while you CAN save some money, you arent saving much. 100-125 for a used DX6i vs 159 for brand new.
(and you might be getting one with a year or more on it. Not worth it in my opinion. For my buddy, a DX4 or 5 might work, but not well, few useful features on those and they have little resale value. Keep resale in mind. A used DX6i is in great demand because it is the price performance champion out there. If your son decided he didnt want this hobby, he can easily get $100 for it if its in good shape. (save your reciept!)

The DX4 and 5 do not offer many features you really want/need for a helicopter.

Also if you go used, my suggestion, find it local and drive to see/touch it before you purchase, if possible. You know more of what your getting. Still... no recourse if you have some failure.

The new ones from reputable dealers, offer you some means to replace or resolve any issues. (I think that piece of mind, plus the higher resale-ability of a new DX6i is worth 40-50 extra bucks.)

I do not trust Align electronics, I surely dont trust anything (electronic) from HKing. (the reason they are less money is they use lower quality components) OK for a plane maybe, but penny-wise and pound-foolish (and dangerous) with a helicopter worth $500 plus

Agreed with not going with a clone. It is swap meet season... might be able to pick up a DX6 for a better price.

You're right it is swap season. well you might get a DX 6 for maybe 80 keep in mind I believe there were 2 versions of the DX 6i. And a DX 6. A brand new DX 6i will support DSMX
When I was looking for a used DX 6i I found out they were 2 versions of that Obviously they fix the issues with the older 1. But other than date of manufacture you don't know.

Another thing is this is the brain that flies all your toys. I couldn't pick a more important place to put my money first then my transmitter. Just sayin.

I have a 11X so the money is put down. I just didn't want my 7 year old son handling it when flying a 130X. That is why I was asking about a cheap remote.Aurora, Raptor 90 FBL, Logo 600SX

Dx6i, should be able to pick one up for around $100-125.If the wings are traveling faster than the fuselage, it's probably a helicopter.

I have a DX6. It's great radio, but it's DSM Only. I had to purchase a DX6i to get DSM2 capability, as the others have stated, that's the minimum spec you need for the AS3X receiver in the 130X. Make sure you know the difference when you're shopping. What the...? I didn't do anything! I was just hovering and it suddenly got a mind of its own!
